Miami Beach Art Photo Expo, South Florida's newest organization for contemporary photography, announces its dates for the inaugural In Fashion '07 exhibition -- the nation's first presentation of signature collections from the world's leading fashion photographers. The unprecedented exhibition will take place at The Surfcomber Hotel, 1717 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach, FL, December 2 through December 9, during this year's Art Basel Miami Beach.
In Fashion '07 will feature an exclusive collection of more than 200 contemporary works of photographic art personally signed by 20 of the world's leading icons in fashion photography. Representing a total of 12 countries, including France, The United States, Germany, China, United Kingdom and Japan, some of the most globally esteemed names exhibiting their work will include: David LACHAPELLE, Miles ALDRIDGE, Matthew BROOKES, Elaine CONSTANTINE, Christiane DRAFFEHN, Juan GATTI, Rene HABERMACHER & Jannis TSIPOULANIS, Seb JANIAK, Jean Pierre KHAZEM, Serge LUTENS, Ali MAHDAVI, Jean Baptiste MONDINO, Thierry MUGLER, Michael James O'BRIEN, Stéphane SEDNAOUI, David SEIDNER, Wing SHYA, Kanjo TAKE, Max VADUKUL, Willy VANDERPERRE and Ellen VON UNWERTH. This prestigious group of international photographers has never before shown their collections together, under one roof, and the exhibition is considered to be the first of its kind in the country.
Miami Beach Art Photo Expo, the visionary team of producers for In Fashion '07, has formed an exclusive partnership with internationally acclaimed icon Marion de Beaupré, an undisputed European authority in fashion photography for more than 25 years. As the curator for the inaugural exhibition, De Beaupré has hand-picked 20 of the world's most famous and emerging fashion photographers, whose personalities and work have been chosen as a true representation of the future of fashion photography today. In Fashion '07 is highly anticipated to become a major attraction during Art Basel and ultimately help to position Miami Beach as a capital of fashion photography in the United States.
"In the 1980's, a new generation of photographers revolutionized fashion photography," says Marion de Beaupré. "A new approach was established from a long tradition of glamour. Among many talents, I have selected the artists that most represent this movement. Working for the fashion industry, a genre that continuously reinvents itself, these photographers have become the icons of a new popular culture. Through their creativity, they incarnate multiple emerging currents. Today, fashion photography is more than a lifestyle, it is a mirror of actuality. It generates inspiration from cinema, music and the art world."
The historic grounds of the Surfcomber Hotel will be completely transformed by Miami Beach Art Photo Expo. An elaborate 60-foot-high, 30,000-square-foot structure will cover the grounds of the property and pool area.
The aim of In Fashion '07 is to project a new look on fashion photography, by presenting strong and original images from upcoming talent along with images from the pioneers of fashion photography who are still considered today's undisputed leaders.
Each signed photograph from the collection -- the works individually valued between $5,000 and $40,000 -- will be available for purchase throughout the duration of the exhibit. Entrance to In Fashion '07 will cost $10 and will be free for college students with a student ID. For further information, call 305.407.2855 or visit www.artphotoexpo.com
