15 MOST Luxurious Fashion Brands

11:15
From Oscar de la Renta to Chanel, here are some of the most lavish and prestigious fashion brands. Subscribe to Hindered Thoughts http://goo.gl/d3U3RP 6. Chanel The high fashion wear company was introduced to the world back in 1909 by none other than Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, otherwise known as “Coco Chanel.” This is where the brand gets its inspiration for the famously recognizable logo that is two interlocking C’s. The company specializes in creating haute couture for its wealthy clients but also for fashion models like Naomi Campbell, who once modeled for them, and actresses Marilyn Monroe, Keira Knightley, and Nicole Kidman. One of their most famous products is the perfume No. 5 de Chanel, along with the Chanel Suit. Today, Chanel is valued at being $6.8 billion dollars. An interesting fact to note is that Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director behind Fendi, happens to be the creative director for Chanel as well. 5. Prada Founded back in 1913 by Mario Prada, this fashion brand actually started out by manufacturing leather bags and trunks. It would then evolve into selling everything from clothing to perfume and even a brief stint of LG Prada cell phones. Though the brand may have broadened its inventory, it still spends the majority of its focus creating some of the world’s most exclusive handbags that only the rich and famous can possibly hope to afford. Mario Prada believed that women should not be involved in business so he excluded his own family members from getting involved. In a fantastic twist of irony, his son did not care to run the business so his daughter Luisa Prada took over as his successor and is now currently being run by her daughter Miuccia. 4. House of Versace The fashion empire that is the House of Versace all started with fashion designer Gianni Versace back in 1978. He created a brand that has been synonymous with elegance and simply oozes high fashion. His glamorous gowns have gone on to make a name for himself as a respected designer. Like the case of the famous black dress held with gold safety pins that actress Elizabeth Hurley wore back in 1994 to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral. Sadly, Versace’s life was cut short in 1997 on the steps of his Miami mansion when he became the fifth and final victim of Andrew Cunanan. The tragic event will be the story behind American Crime Story’s season 2 titled: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. After his death, his sister Donatella became the new Artistic Director and has established a $5.5 billion company her brother would be proud of. 3. Gucci Started in 1921 by a Mr. Guccio Gucci, the company was originally dabbing in leather goods. It wasn’t until 19 years later when his son Aldo would take the company from being a one-stop shop into the fashion powerhouse that it’s now known for being. It’s Aldo that would usher in the era of the brand’s iconic “Bamboo Bag” and its “ready to wear segments.” In the 90’s, the company decided to bring American Fashion designer Tom Ford to revamp their women’s wear. He ended up helping launch the brand to where it is today. The fashion brand houses other well-known designers in its collections such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Yves Saint Laurent. If you’re in the market to do some shopping at this $12.4 billion brand, expect to spend at least $2,000. 2. Louis Vuitton This may come as a shock but the famous fashion brand has been around longer than you might have thought. Formed 163 years ago in 1854, a young man by the name of Louis Vuitton started out as an apprentice for a box-maker. Vuitton ended up becoming a well-known crafter of luxury trunks and opened up his own shop in Paris. He then ended up becoming the personal box-maker of Napoleon III’s wife, Empress Eugenie de Montijo. Fast forward years later and the company is now worth $28.1 billion with a generated revenue of $10.1 billion. Today, Louis Vuitton doesn’t make just trunks but designer handbags and clothing that can be spotted on the most famous of A-listers. 1. Balenciaga The beginning of Balenciaga’s reign began back in 1919 when it was established by its founder of the same name, Cristóbal Balenciaga. As a young child, Balenciaga became an apprentice to a tailor in his hometown of Getaria, Spain and would eventually get his formal training in Madrid. He would go on to create the House of Balenciaga and skyrocketed to success thanks to his artistic genius. He was hailed as the undisputed “ King of Fashion” and was highly respected among his peers which included the likes of Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Pierre Balmain. Balenciaga even helped train the likes of high-fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Hubert Givenchy to name a few.

How Zara Took Over The Industry Using Fast Fashion

04:02
Today, we’re going to look at the history of Zara, its parent company Inditex, and the fashion industry in general, to see how it became possible to create such a high churn rate in the fashion industry. An average American will throw away 77 pounds of clothing every year. And that’s true across the majority of the western world. That is two suitcases of clothes, just dumped. Zara’s first store opened in 1975, in a city called A Coruna in northern Spain. Owners Amancio Ortega and Rosalia Mera had wanted to name it after a favorite Greek film called Zorba the Greek, but a bar on their street had already beat them to the punch, so they settled for Zara, since they had already had the letters made for the sign. Inditex was set up in 1985 as holding company for Zara and the manufacturing plants. They went on to set up and take-over many other high-street brands that follow Zara’s format; such as Pull and Bear, Bershka and Stradivarius. They now have over 6000 stores globally. Zara’s early business model was to create similar copies to high end lines but at an affordable price. As they expanded through Spain, Ortega pushed the idea of instant fashion, where Zara could react incredibly quickly to new trends so they could put new lines on the shelves in a fraction of the normal time. -----------------Support the channel: Support this channel: https://www.patreon.com/alexberman SUBSCRIBE for more videos like this: http://youtube.com/alxberman?sub_confirmation=1 Check out our Digital Agency Marketing Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/hr/podcast/digital-agency-marketing-1/id1200614219?mt=2&ls=1 Need lead generation or marketing support for your agency? Manufacturing | How to Start Your Fashion Company®

03:12
Learn how to manufacture your line without losing money! Share this video: http://youtu.be/qx0aR_cy1g0 Subscribe to our channel: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=mshopnyc ________________________________ Manufacturing is a topic that--I think it causes stress. That's a really tough segment of the business to deal with. If you're a starting designer, it's difficult to build those relationships. The ones that you need to have with the suppliers and with the factories so that they can produce your product to your standards. And I'm here to help. I have a couple of tips. My number one tip is don't pay for your production up front. If you put your product in a factory, you want to pay them upon delivery. Once they make you beautiful product and it passes all your tests and it's to your quality standards, that's when you pay for your product. I once had this client--she came to me after she place her production in a factory, she paid them upfront and then they pretty much stopped communicating with her. They would not answer her phone calls, they would not give her anything that she needed; she actually had to show up at the factory and pretty much they ruined her production. And all of this is because she paid upfront. They no longer cared about the fact that they had to produce her product to standard. So one of my major tips to you designers out there is to not only find a reputable, really good quality factory but to pay them when the work is completed. Now, I know it's difficult because you're new, you're newly working with them--they don't trust you as much as maybe you don't trust them. Some of them may ask for a deposit. You being a newbie, I'd say don't pay a deposit, but if you must--if you're in that factory and they're working on product for a line that you hold in high regard then maybe pay only up to a ten percent deposit. The factory still has to work for it. You can't pay them enough so then they don't care anymore about your order. I say don't pay a deposit--but if you must, if this is imperative, if there is no other way for them to produce you're product and they are a spectacular, high quality, top of the line factory, then I may give them a deposit, but I would only give them--like I said--ten percent, so that they still have to earn the ninety percent and they still have to give you the quality that your company requires. So my tip to you, designers, is don't pay factories up front. Deposit only in dire straits, only if, again, the factory is top, primo, A-1, wonderful quality then ten percent would be the max that you should ever give as a deposit to a factory, so that you can get your product made to standards at the end. ________________________________ With 25 years of expert experience in the industry, fashion authority Michelle Alleyne is dedicated to bringing her immeasurable industry knowledge and personal expertise to aspiring designers everywhere. Fashion Business Plan Template: How to Start a Fashion Business Plan (in 20 mins)

23:03
Learn how to create fashion business plan in less than 20 mins instead of spending days/weeks/months creating one. How to start a fashion business? or How to start a clothing business? The first step is creating a fashion business plan or fashion business model. In the above video, we are going to learn how to create your fashion business plan in 20 mins. You must be wondering why 20 minutes, typical fashion business plan takes days/weeks to create. A perfect fashion business plan is a myth. Studies have shown that what separates successful fashion brands from unsuccessful is not the perfect plan but the ability to turn profitability before running out of resources. The way to start successful fashion business is not to spend weeks creating your perfect business plan but going out talking to your customers and modifying your fashion business model to adapt to customer’s needs. Time is a critical resource when you are starting a clothing line and you should not fall into the analysis paralysis path. Perfection is not the goal here, the goal is to create a snapshot of your initial thinking w.r.t. your customers, product, unique value proposition, revenue stream etc so you can establish a baseline as you are starting a clothing line and then modify/update it based on customer feedback. We are going to use a tool named Lean Canvas created by Ash Maurya in order to accomplish this. If you have any specific questions, please drop them in the comment and I will reply to them at my earliest convenience. I’ve been in the fashion industry for over a decade working for both small and large companies. While I had a lot of success, it was not easy, and in order to reach these high positions I realized there were certain skills that were crucial to have and that I couldn’t do it alone. I hate to say it but in this industry, “It’s WHO you know not WHAT you know.” 6 out of the 7 jobs I’ve had I got because I knew someone- that’s CRAZY! I was very blessed to have a few mentors guiding me along the way which is why I decided to start my consulting business, Fashion Angel Warrior. I know what it’s like to be where you are. Top 10 Most Iconic Luxury Fashion Logos

01:25
A logo is among the first things a person remembers about a company or brand. When it comes to fashion brand logos, the importance of the logo is no exception. In fact, a simple fashion logo design can be the difference of a plain black t-shirt being sold for $10 or $1000. Clothing logos are especially important because they send out the signal of the fabric a particular person is wearing. Therefore, the fashion logo design definitely wants to be put on display on the exterior of an individual’s clothing, especially if they are wearing a luxury fashion brand. Luxury fashion brands are expensive. In many situations, the design of the clothing is not very different from regular clothing with the exception of a highly respected fashion logo being the ultimate difference. A highly respected fashion logo can sell out a store within minutes. When it comes to luxury fashion, many people strive and work hard their entire lives just to be able to afford clothing with a Gucci or Louis Vuitton logo. The clothing company logos in this video are among the best and most respected fashion logo designs in the entire world. Watch the top 10 most iconic luxury fashion logos in this video. Eco Fashion Brand is Upcycling Over 100,000 Sweaters Every Year - Slow Fashion

05:10
In this video, we meet Julia Grieve, the founder of preloved, which is a Toronto-based eco-fashion brand that creates clothing using second-hand vintage wool sweaters, rolls of deadstock fabric, and other sustainably sourced materials. Preloved was founded in 1995 and has been upcycling and reusing an average of 100,000 sweaters each year. These secondhand sweaters are usually destined for the landfill, but preloved buys them from rag house clothing sorters and deconstructs them into fabric they can use to design new sweaters. In addition to sourcing sustainable materials for all of their clothes, the brand has also made a conscious decision to manufacture their clothing in Canada instead of outsourcing the work overseas. Their clothes are made by people who are paid a good wage and who have a positive and safe working environment. Mat and I were impressed with the incredible work that preloved does to design and create clothing with minimal impact on the environment, and without exploiting it's workers. One of the reasons we've been inspired to look into ethically made and environmentally friendly clothing is because of The True Cost documentary (http://truecostmovie.com) that we recently watched about the incredibly devastating impact the fast fashion industry has on the planet. We wrote a blog post with tips about how to create an ethical wardrobe here: http://www.exploringalternatives.ca/how-to-create-an-ethical-wardrobe/ You can also check out the incredible clothing line made by preloved here: http://www.getpreloved.com Thanks for watching! Market Research | How to Start Your Fashion Company®

How to Start Your Fashion Company: Market Research Share this video: http://youtu.be/mHuYiKoDxFY Subscribe to our channel: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=mshopnyc ___________________________ Within all of the other segments I mention research. And that's because it's critical. It's important. It is probably one of the most important activities that you need to accompany your idea for starting a business. You really, really have to look into the industry, look into the market to understand how the system works and figure out where you fit into that system and that's all about the research. You've got to speak to your customers, you've got to speak to experts in the field, you've got to do a ton of reading of trade publications and blogs and follow the companies in the industry that maybe your competitors, but follow them to see what they're doing and how they're being successful or how they're not being successful. Market research is imperative in the fashion industry and it's continual. You're not just doing market research for your business plan, you're doing it every season. You're doing it continually, every selling period. You want to understand the market, what's happening. You want to combine that with studying the economy and what's going on in the world beyond fashion. You want to look to other industries for information that you might be able to feed of off in the fashion industry. For example, new phone, new bag that I can add to my collection that I'm designing. New way to carry the phone, new anything from any industry. I know it's difficult to compile market research data, but you can call on us. You can purchase it. But you really need to have some means of looking into your industry that you want to enter and figuring out whether or not you're entering it properly, whether your prices are okay. Will your consumer pay those prices? Will your consumer come to where you're selling your product? You want to know everything you can about your consumer--you want to create a profile of your consumer so that you can figure out their every move. When do they want your product? How much do they want it for? Where do they want to buy it? That's all such important information and you need that in order to be a successful fashion company. You need to understand your customer, you need to understand your market. ___________________________ With 25 years of expert experience in the industry, fashion authority Michelle Alleyne is dedicated to bringing her immeasurable industry knowledge and personal expertise to aspiring designers everywhere. Major Fashion Company Accused Of Racial Profiling

06:41
"According to a new report, Zara—the “fast fashion” clothing company that’s recently come into the spotlight after its general counsel sued for discrimination and retaliation—has a deeply-embedded culture of racial profiling. Surprise, surprise. The survey, which was conducted by the Center for Popular Democracy, interviewed employees at Zara’s various New York City locations and found, first, that conditions in the stores themselves are distinctly unequal. Employees of color are reportedly twice as dissatisfied with their hours as white employees and face more scrutiny from their bosses. They also report that they are much less likely to be promoted than their white-skinned counterparts.” * Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian discuss on The Young Turks. The Business Plan | How to Start Your Fashion Company®

03:35
How to Start Your Fashion Company Series: The Business Plan Share this video: http://youtu.be/ouDCwGl_7Pg Subscribe to our channel: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=mshopnyc _________________________ Welcome to our six part series exploring the different aspects of starting a fashion company. Today we're going to focus on the business plan. Designers often have an issue with the balancing both the creative and business side of starting a fashion company, but the business plan is where we really need to make sense of what we have envisioned in our heads. It helps you get to where you need to go to meet your goals--it will get you from point A to point Z. It will help you figure out how much you need to raise in terms of capital, how you're going to reach your market, and how to sell your product. And if it's about physical location, that research--that gathering of the data to set up your business plan--is really going to save your lives. So don't skip this step! It is really important. When I started my company, I started as a boutique and I had a very thin business plan. I did write down my ideas, but I don't think I was as thorough as I should have been in terms of starting a business--the way I recommend it now after experiencing what I did. I opened a store in the completely wrong neighborhood and while today I always preach "location, location, location, location," I didn't preach that to myself back then. It wasn't a part of my business plan and I ended up on the wrong street, which actually required me to move my store from the first location to a second location. It ate up a ton of my capital and it made my expenses very tough to meet. You don't want to do that and I feel that the business plan will help to prevent you from making similar mistakes. You'll have an idea of the route you need to take to get to your end goals. You will look into your industry to figure out what is needed and required, what your customers what, and how to attract those costumers. And that is so very important. I can't stress it more. If you are needing help with the business plan, just give us a call or shoot us an email and we will help you out. There are tons of resources that we can direct you to. We can even write the business plan for you! We can hold your hand as you write the business plan. But again, designers, do not skip this step. It will help you get everything that you need, all of your components, all of the processes, all of the people, all of the talent in line so that you can achieve your goals of starting your fashion company. _________________________ With 25 years of expert experience in the industry, fashion authority Michelle Alleyne is dedicated to bringing her immeasurable industry knowledge and personal expertise to aspiring designers everywhere. _________________________ Become a subscriber for more helpful tips! http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=mshopnyc Visit our website: https://www.mshopnyc.com/ Follow us: https://www.pinterest.com/mshopnyc/www-mshopnyc-com/ https://www.facebook.com/m.shopnyc https://www.twitter.com/MShopNYC http://www.linkedin.com/pub/m-shop-nyc/7/634/bbb/ Music: Son Of A Rocket Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)
