By following these five simple yet very effective steps you'll get rid of your belly fat and have a flat stomach in the shortest amount of time possible. Now the goal of all of these steps is to lower your insulin levels and increase your glucagon levels. Insulin is a fat storage hormone that's released when your blood glucose levels rise. When you have low blood sugar there's very little insulin present in your body. On the other hand when you have high blood sugar insulin is running around like crazy storing excess glucose that can't be held by your liver or your muscles as fat. When your blood sugar drops low enough your body releases a hormone known as glucagon. Glucagon has the inverse effect of insulin and that's exactly why it's so important for burning body fat. Now unfortunately there's no way to Target fat burn so burning overall body fat is going to be the best and the most efficient way to burn belly fat. So when we decrease our blood glucose levels insulin levels plummet and glucagon acts to maintain normal blood glucose levels. The first step in doing this is a process known as glycogenolisis where glucagon stimulates the conversion of stored glycogen from the liver to glucose for your bloodstream. Glucagon will also promote the conversion of amino acids to glucose through a process known as gluconeogenesis. And the last and most important thing that it does for losing belly fat is that glucagon acts on adispose tissue to stimulate the breakdown of fat stores into the bloodstream. so the question is how do we decrease insulin levels and increase glucagon levels to prevent us from storing any more fat and instead to help us burn more fat? And the first step is to follow a low-carb diet by eliminating all processed foods simple carbohydrates and sugary beverages and in general limiting all carbs. Now low carb diet is not the only way that you can burn belly fat but it's one of the fastest ways that you can lower your insulin levels in order to burn belly fat. In one study people with metabolic syndrome were randomized to receive either a low-fat or low-carb diet containing 1500 calories. The insulin levels dropped by an average of 50 percent in the low carb group and only 19 percent in the low-fat group even though they had the same amount of calories. Carbohydrates are the most insulinogenic out of the three macronutrients protein carbs and fats. Now in general consuming fewer calories has consistently shown to increase insulin sensitivity and decrease insulin levels in overweight and obese people regardless of the type of diet that they consume. So again even though it's not the only way to do it a low-carb diet can help you deplete the glycogen in your liver and start burning fat faster. Step number two is to try fasting because not eating is by far one of the best ways to keep insulin levels at their lowest. I mean it makes sense if you're not taking it any calories your body is nothing to convert to glucose. Start off with intermittent fasting where you fast for 16 hours a day and only eat during an 8-hour time block of the day. So you might skip breakfast and instead just have lunch and dinner everyday. Fasting definitely works however be warned some people when they break their fast will be so hungry that they drastically overeat and that is going to cause a huge Spike in blood sugar and insulin levels. To the point where it might have not even been so bad if you just didn't fast. So for that reason fasting is not the answer for everyone. If you're the type of person that gets uncontrollably hungry when you fast and then you binge eat after the fast you may be better off spreading out your meals into small portions throughout the day and just sticking to a low-carb diet. However like I said I would definitely give it a shot because there's nothing out there that can lower your insulin levels the way that fasting can. The third step is to begin exercising consistently and regularly. I always like to use the gas tank example with this one imagine that your body's gas tank the fuel that it runs off of is glycogen. And every time you eat your refilling that gas tank. Just by breathing being awake standing sitting even sleeping your body has to use some energy from the gas tank almost like a car that's running while parked. However the amount of energy it uses while parked is not all that much. When you exercise it's like driving your car in that your car begins running off of more gas to get it from point A to point B

In this video, I share with you a three phase plan for losing fat in the abdomen, love handles or waistline area, and the chest. These spots are where most men carry their fat and are the last to lose it when dieting or trying to cut down. The reason for this is actually based on our genetics, but it doesn’t mean that we cannot do something about it. You may even have developed muscles underneath, but as long as the fat is present you will never get a chance to see what it looks like. This means that your priority has to be on cleaning up your nutrition. If you refuse to eat better, no matter what else you do, you will never look better. Early on however, you don’t have to get too specific with your eating. Simply make a pass through your diet and get rid of the obvious garbage that you know is not helping your cause. Sweets, excessive alcohol, sugars, etc can all be removed and replaced with more nutritious foods. You don’t have to necessarily worry about your macros at this point but just getting rid of the junk food and liquid calories. Realizing that it will take some time to see the results of these changes however, you should start chipping away at the trouble spots in another way. For the abdomen, you want to first ensure that you can properly activate the muscles in the rectus and transverse abdominis. Most find this difficult and even when they do perform ab exercises they get frustrated at not being able to feel them. Next, you want to start adding in ab training but mostly in the form of rotational ab exercises. Instead of trying to do crunches and having the fat get in the way of the movement, you can work your abs without having to crunch. Finally, you want to incorporate moves for your entire core, such as with the 7 minute ab workout included above. When it comes to the love handles, you want to start by working the lats. Here especially, you want to focus on full contractions and range of motion to ensure proper development of the muscles that actually insert onto the top of the pelvis near your waistline. The more you can build these muscles the greater the visual differential between your waist and your shoulders and the better the v taper. Next add in direct ab work and finish up with direct oblique training for the best look as your diet gets dialed in. Finally, for the chest you want to stretch it and strengthen the muscles of the rotator cuff to posturally improve the visual appearance of your chest. From here, work the serratus anterior. This will give your chest more natural underlying support will helping to visually chisel out the area underneath. Finally, you want to make sure that as your body fat levels decrease and fat loss continues that you are working your chest in all three heads. Use the angles of the band work as an example of how to hit the upper, lower and middle chest. If your main goal is to burn fat, many traditional exercises and training styles may not be the best route for you. Typically when I'm at the gym and I look around I see a bunch of people doing exercises that don't really match up with their goals. If you're trying to get some bigger biceps you shouldn't be on the eliptical doing hours of cardio and conversely if you're trying to lose some weight and burn some belly fat you shouldn't be smashing out set after set of bicep curls. Exercises and training styles are like tools and before you just assume that watching one or two rocky movies is all the knowledge you need on exercising let's make sure that you've chosen the right tool for the job or I should for your goal. If your goal is to lose belly fat I hate to break it to you, but there is no exercise that can directly target the fat on your belly, but there are plenty of exercise methods that can indirectly burn the fat from your belly, and in this video I'll be going over ten of these methods....These training methods will help you burn more fat during & after your workout. Let's start with the very first one & that's peripheral heart action training. This is my favorite way to do all my weight training workouts, and I highly suggest that if you're trying to lose some belly fat you incorporate this style of training right away. In general your workouts for the week should be a mixture of some more aerobic & some more anaerobic workouts, meaning some of them will be geared more towards lifting heavy weights & others should be geared towards improving your cardiovascular function. But what you'll notice is that during your heavy weight training days, you wind up taking longer breaks & not breathing quite as heavy. Sometimes after some weight training workouts besides the soreness that you might feel in your muscles you may not feel like you worked out at all. So that's where peripheral heart action training comes into play. It helps incorporate an element of cardio into your weight training workout without you having to sacrifice the amount of weight your lifting. So you won't get weaker, but you'll be able to burn much more calories & accomplish much more in a shorter period of time. The best way to do this is by combining an upper body & a lower body movement into one set. For example you can combine a bench press with a squat. So you would do six to eight reps on the bench press & then right away with no break you would do squats for six to eight reps. You would perform both of these exercises with a heavy weight load & you would only take a break after completing both of them. With peripheral heart action training what you're doing is taking the blood that your heart would normally just have to pump to your chest & arms if you were just doing bench press by itself & what your doing is your forcing your body to pull & pump all that blood back down to your legs right after your set of bench without any break or recovery. This makes your heart work much harder allowing you to get your heart rate & breathing rate higher & this will burn more calories & fat in the process. Now let's say that you don't want to work legs & upper body in the same day you want to focus on each on separate days. Well the good news is that peripheral heart action training doesn't only work only if you combine an upper & a lower body movement. It'll also work if you combine two movements that work opposing muscle groups. For example if you combine chest & back movements together with no break. Or if you do quad & hamstring movements together with no break your heart will still have to work much harder to push the blood from the anterior part of your body to the posterior part of your body. So peripheral heart action training try it out. The second exercise style that can help you burn a lot more belly fat is known as cardio acceleration training. We actually have a whole hour long class at our gyms dedicated to this type of training because it's so effective. Once again it involves super setting two exercises. Except this time instead of doing two weight training exercises back to back we're combining a weight training exercise with a cardio exercise with no break. So an example of this would be to perform a set of barbell squats with heavy weight for let's say

And the best part is that it'll only take you 5 minutes. If that sounds good to you then let's get started. This routine can be used by itself or the way that I like for my clients to do it is as a finisher at the end of their weight training workouts. Today I'll show you both ways you'll be able to do it as a standalone workout or you can do it after your weight training workout. Weight training is an anaerobic activity that primarily uses glucose for energy. By doing weight training before doing this 5 minute circuit you can burn through all the stored glycogen in your liver and your muscles and then you have an open pathway to your fat stores. This quick workout is referred to as a finisher because it's meant to do exactly what it sounds like. When you combo this with a proper eating plan and by positioning this after weight training or even after a cardio workout you can bet you're going to burn significantly more fat. Rather than count reps all 5 exercises are done in intervals. Each exercise is done for 60 seconds straight before moving on to the next. With this finisher you're not taking any breaks until you're fully done with all five minutes. Like I said it's called a finisher for a reason. So for the very first exercise we're using battle ropes. If you don't have access to battle ropes don't worry I'm going to give you another exercise you can do instead. But for this exercise you would start by holding the ropes in your hands and slightly squatting down with your hips back and your chest straight up. Bump your hips forward as you raise both arms and ropes over your head. Then bring the ropes back down to slam them as hard as you can into the ground. As you're coming down to slam the ropes bring your hips back to assist in this full body movement. Repeat this three times and once you do 3 slams bring the ropes to the ground. Next Plant your hands on the ground and jumped out into a push-up position keeping your shoulder blades tailbone and your heels in a straight line. So make sure that you're not dropping your hips down to the ground and also make sure that your hips aren't coming up into a downward dog position. From that position perform a push-up or if it's too difficult you can drop to your knees and perform a push-up from there. Once done with the push-up hop your feet back in stand up & perform three more slams with the ropes. Then go back to the push-up. Repeat this again & again 4 1 one minute straight. & try to count how many reps you can get within that minute because the next time that you do this workout you want to try to get more reps within the minute. If you don't have access to battle ropes which most gyms nowadays will have them but if you don't you can just do regular burpees instead. This is pretty much the second half of the movement that we just went over. You would just plant your hands on the ground jump out into a push-up position perform a push up pop your feet back in & jump up. If you don't have the battle rope then I want you to do those burpees with weights in your hands to make it more challenging. The next exercise that you're going to move right into without a break is the split squat jump. This is also commonly referred to as Plyometrics lunges. To perform this exercise start by stepping far forward with one foot while keeping the other foot planted behind you up on your toes. If you don't step far enough forward you'll know because your knee will be going past your front toe on that front leg. You want to be far enough for word to create a box between your legs as you go down for your lunge. The other thing to keep in mind is that you don't only want distance between your front & your back foot vertically but you also want distance horizontally. I see too many people trying to do lunges at the gym trying to keep both their feet in a straight line. However this is wrong because you want your feet hip distance apart horizontally this will help you maintain balance & also decrease the chances of an injury. Once you have the proper position keep your back straight & vertical while

You'd be pretty shocked right? Especially since every fitness magazine, and fitness expert is telling you to do leg raises and to build nice v-cut lower abs. Well I'm telling you not to do these exercises. And to be more specific I'm telling you that you're just working your abs plain wrong. Let me show you what I mean. So first you have to understand a little more about how your abs work. First of all that six pack that everybody knows loves and wants is just one out of four major portions of your abs and is known as the rectus abdominis. You still also have a transverse abdominis which is your deepest layer abdominal muscle and that muscle is responsible for keeping your core tight, supporting your lower back, and pulling your stomach in. And then we also have our internal and external obliques responsible primarily for lateral flexion and rotation. The rectus abdominis or "the 6 pack" is the muscle you want to work when you're trying to build your lower abs and its main responsibility is trunk flexion. And its super important to realize what that is to build abs more effectively. Trunk flexion is simply put bending around the trunk area. Now there's a big difference when that happens in the trunk area and when that happens in the hip and pelvic area. When that movement happens in the hip and pelvic area that's when you start working your hip flexors not your abs. So let's get back to the gym so I can show you the proper way to get shredded lower abs with 5 exercises that'll be done in a way that you may have never seen before. For the first lower ab exercise we're going to do a pike with valslides and a resistance band. Remember resistance and weights are important for building ab muscles so try to incorporate weights and increase resistance as often as you can. So for the pike if you're using a resistance band wrap it around something sturdy and then put your valslides directly under the resistance band. Then step with your toes in the center of the valslides and wrap the resistance band around your ankles. Next you're going to walk out until you feel that the resistance is challenging enough and then you're going to attempt to bring your toes to your hands. Keep in mind even in a position like this we're still going for trunk flexion. When your butt gets to the top of movement try to curl your hips into your abs and chest. A regression for this movement would be to remove the resistance band. For the next exercise we're gonna correct the leg raises we were doing wrong earlier. But just raising your legs up and down you're working mostly your hip flexors. You can do leg raises if you incorporate a crunch in your trunk area at the end of the movement with a pulse up for example. Or another way to do this entirely is to bend your knees put a weight between your feet and do a variated form of reverse crunches from there. Again you would want to try to curl your hips and knees into your abs and chest. And really make sure that you squeeze. By doing this exercise on a bench you'll be able to stretch past the point of neutral getting more muscle fiber recruitment. For the next lower ab exercise we have T-Rex knee tucks. And it's just as important as ever that you do this correctly to actually Target your lower abs. Start with your feet inside the T-Rex and come up into a push-up position then you tuck your knees to your chest and again make sure you try to curl your hips to engage your core. You can actually also do Pikes with the T-Rex as well and if done correctly it could be the progression for T-Rex knee tucks. Just remember to curl those hips in. Now we're going to correct the hanging knee tucks that we were doing earlier. Just hanging off of a bar and throwing your knees up and down without using your hips is useless. And I would say that's what most people do whenever they do Hanging knee tucks or hanging leg raises. Doing it this way once again only works your hip flexors not your lower abs. Take a wild guess what you have to do to get the ABS involved in this movement? You guessed it you have to have that trunk flexion. So when you tuck your knees you want to try to curl them into your chest. It's almost like in all of these exercises you're

And most guys are wondering which foods help with reducing belly fat and what does a healthy diet look like. So in this video, I decided to bring all the foods out of the fridge and show you exactly what I eat. Key points: Before I list all the specific foods, it's important to debunk 2 BIG myths when it comes to burning belly fat. Myth #1 - Spot reducing fat. - This is a myth most people still believe. The truth is that we can't specifically target some area on our body and just burn fat from that area. There are no magical foods or supplements that can spot reduce your belly fat. The only thing we can do is systematically reduce the total body fat level of the entire body and eventually the belly fat will go away as well. The reduction of body fat requires a negative energy balance, essentially there's less energy coming in through food than the body needs to maintain all the activities. And in this situation, the body is forced to burn body fat as fuel. For most men the belly fat area will be the last one to go away, the process usually involves getting leaner in the arms, shoulders, calves, face, neck, chest before tapping into the stomach fat. So keep this in mind, it's not possible to "spot reduce" and specifically target belly fat. Myth #2 - If you eat "healthy" or as some people call it "clean" you'll lose body fat, and you don't have to worry about calories. This is entirely false, calories still matter and you it's certainly possible to consume enough calories that your body doesn't need to burn fat. Calories are still the primary determinant of body-weight change. There are no magic foods that will target belly fat or any other fat. Basing your diet primarily on whole healthy unprocessed foods will generally lead to better health (both physical and mental) and also make the process of losing fat easier. However, calories do count. If you want to lose fat, you need to be in a caloric deficit. Even at the extreme level i.e. The Twinkie diet, the person lost weight due to a caloric deficit despite eating only twinkies. And got healthier because lowering body fat. As a rule of thumb, you want to base your diet 80% of whole healthy unprocessed foods and then leave that other 20% of calories to come from whatever else foods you want to eat. And Whey/Soy/Pea protein supplements if necessary. Carbohydrates: Oats, Rice, White Potato, Sweet Potato, Tortillas, Beans and different types of bread. Fats: Olive oil (for cooking and dressing if needed), all forms of nuts, avocado and whatever fat comes with protein. Fiber - Not a macronutrient but a critical part of every healthy diet. This is where most people fail, average American consumes only 15g of fiber per day. My favorite sources: Green peas, oats, whole grain bread and all kinds of vegetables (peppers, tomatoes, spinach, broccoli, carrots, green lettuce) It's important to realize that none of these foods have magical properties. They're just foods that I really enjoy and have no problem eating on a regular basis. And for your own diet, you want to focus on the foods you like to eat. Toby here with another one my series of workouts that are designed to eliminate those unsightly love handles, burn off some of that stubborn belly fat, and tone up your arms, and chest. Now the workouts I’ve designed for this installment will require you to use the equipment found at your local gym. This way, when you get to your gym, you will know exactly what piece of equipment to be on the lookout for and how to use it. As an added bonus, this time I’ve designed three different versions of workouts depending on a certain area of the body to target. Each workout consists of 3 different exercises, so pay close attention as I break them down for you. I’ll show you how to perform each exercise properly to avoid injury, then I’ll go through one complete set for you. Let’s get started: #1 - 1:47 - Barbell/Dumbbell Walking Lunges: 3 Sets x 12 reps per leg. 30 seconds of rest between sets. #2 - 2:10 - Cable Rope Crunches (Controlling The Negative) - 3 Sets x 12 reps. 30 seconds of rest between sets. #3 - 3:31 - Dumbbell Bench Step-Ups: 3 Sets x 12 reps per leg. 30 seconds of rest between sets. There you have it, fellas. Remember - focus on breathing and engaging the muscles in the area you want to work on. And, if you aren’t breaking a sweat, increase the reps or the number of sets you’re doing. Now, don’t worry about having more workouts to do, because I’m also going to be doing another workout in my next video specific to another stubborn area of fat. Now, it's important to understand that targeting one specific area of body fat isn't as efficient or effective as focusing on losing total body fat, so in my other video, I just posted with my good friend and coach Mark. Start Losing Your Belly Fat Fast: http://go.sixpackshortcuts.com/never47a1 Hey, everybody. Mark Mcilyar here today to show you one of my favorite at-home exercises I have my beginners doing... Right in their living rooms! First and foremost, make sure you have a sufficient amount of space. You don't need a ton of it, just put your arms extended all the way out to each side, do a 360-degree spin, and make sure nothing in that area is going to get in the way. We will be doing a total of 5 different exercises, all back-to-back with no rest until you finish the first round of all 5 movements.Now, let's get going: 0:39 - Elevated Pushups for 10 reps: Remember that these movements are for beginners. That means if you aren't able to fully complete a set of pushups with proper form - back flat, on your toes, arms holding you up and at a shoulder's width - on the ground, then find an elevated surface to workout with. The higher the surface - my coffee table for example, the easier it's going to be for you to do the move. 1:32 - Air Squats for 10 reps: With your feet just about at a shoulder's width apart, you'll essentially be performing a movement identical to sitting down. Here's the kicker - keep your arms forward and out like I am to keep your back straight, remembering to drop down into the squat until your quads hit parallel or if not as low as your mobility allows. 2:13 - Lying Leg Lifts for 10 reps: Lay flat on your back and place your hands underneath your butt. With your legs together or at most a hip's width apart and your legs locked with a slight bend at the knee, lift your legs off the ground and drive your knees up to become parallel with your hips. 2:47 - Donkey Kicks for 10 reps on each leg: Kneel down on your knees and have your hands in a pushup position - shoulder's width apart and at chest level. From this starting point, you will lift one leg up, keeping the leg you ar moving in a locked position and driving your leg up by focusing on your heel going towards the ceiling. Once you finish one leg, make sure to alternate to the next. 3:34 - Knee Pushups for 10 reps: Another pushup variation, only we are taking the pressure off of staying in a plank position, and you will do the pushups from the same start position as you doing the donkey kicks. There you have it. Do all 5 movements back-to-back and after you finish the round with Knee Pushups, take about a 45 second to 1-minute break. Complete a total of 3 rounds for a complete, bodyweight home workout in as little as 7 minutes. To all the beginners looking to get started working out to lose their belly fat and get in shape: It's only 7 minutes out of your day! Start out just doing this maybe 2 or 3 times a week, and as you get into the swing of things, increase it to 3 or 4. By then, you will be ready to incorporate some resistance training to really build that body you want and know you deserve. Like the routine, we put together for you here today?
