Chris Rea - The Blue Guitars Project (2005)

16:55
Blue Guitars is a Blues album released (on his own label Jazzee Blue) by Chris Rea on October 14, 2005. Chris Rea is one out on his own - a thinking person's musician, with the genuine right to sing the blues in any form - his health struggle alone should inspire us to do what we can for the world whilst we have the chance. With the Blue Guitars box set, Chris Rea has produced something that any artist - in both senses of the word - should be proud of. In true form, he is expressing his spirit independently and honestly, with an ambitious make or break approach. 130-track CD/DVD set comprising of 11 CD albums each with it's own distinct musical style which showcases his passion for the guitar, plus a DVD for the 'Stony Road' album. Having created the cover of Stony Road and interpreted the cover of The Blue Juke Box the close relationship between Chris Rea's music and his painting was defined. This relationship was clearly leading in one direction, a ground-breaking idea to link the two driving forces in his life. The idea of Blue Guitars was born. Eleven albums from Chris Rea in one book pack, 130 brand new Chris Rea songs inspired by the blues ranging globally across all his own interpretations of this musical form, songs that Chris believes are some of his best to date. Album Number One - Beginnings Album Number Two - Country Blues Album Number Three - Louisiana & New Orleans Album Number Four - Electric Memphis Blues Album Number Five - Texas Blues Album Number Six - Chicago Blues Album Number Seven - Blues Ballads Album Number Eight - Gospel Soul Blues & Motown Album Number Nine - Celtic & Irish Blues Album Number Ten - Latin Blues Album Number Eleven - '60s and '70s Album Number Twelve - Dancing Down The Stony Road DVD Video presentation song list : 1: Where The Blues Come From 2: The King Who Sold His Own 3: If You've Got A Friend In Jesus 4: KKK Blues 5: Catfish Girl 6: Only A Fool Plays By The Rules 7: What I'm Looking For 8: Electric Guitar 9: Weekend Down Mexico 10: The American Way 11: Bob Taylor 12: Here She Comes Now 13: There's No One Looking 14: If I Ever Get Over You 15: Shy Boy 16: The Pain Of Loving You 17: What She Really Is 18: Big White Door 19: You Got Soul 20: Screw You And Your Deep Blue Sea 21: Who Killed Love 22: Nobody But You 23: My blue world says hello Blue Guitars [11CD + DVD] [Box set, Colour, PAL] To buy : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blue-Guitars-11CD-DVD-Chris/dp/3937406328/ref=ntt_mus_dp_dpt_4 This video has been published with absolute respect and admiration to Chris Rea's music ! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chris-Rea/e/B000APXKXO/works/ref=ntt_mus_teaser?

Chris Rea - Sweet Sunday (Blue Guitars, Album 1, Beginnings)

05:39
Chris Rea - Sweet Sunday, Blue Guitars - Album number One – Beginnings, 2005. Blue Guitars is a Blues album released by Chris Rea on October 14, 2005, consisting of eleven CD's, one DVD and a full-colour book, including paintings by the artist, liner notes, and song lyrics. The album is an ambitious project with the 137 songs recorded over the course of 1½ years with a work schedule - according to Chris Rea himself - of twelve hours a day, seven days a week. Initially, the project was inspired by Bill Wyman's "Blues Odyssey" and can be called an "odyssey" in its own right, for depicting a journey through the various epochs of Blues Music, starting at its African origins and finishing with modern-time Blues from the 60s and 70s. Subsequently the eleven CD's are titled the following: "Beginnings", "Country Blues", "Louisiana & New Orleans", "Electric Memphis Blues", "Texas Blues", "Chicago Blues", "Blues Ballads", "Gospel Soul Blues & Motown", "Celtic & Irish Blues", "Latin Blues" and "60s & 70s". Album number one – Beginnings The first album of this set deals with the very beginnings of the Blues, tracing its ways back to its African roots. Living conditions were hard, many African natives were taken captives and transported across the ocean to be sold as slaves, sometimes even betrayed by their own people, which is vividly depicted in the song "The King Who Sold His Own". All in all it was an environment, where it was only natural for the Blues to develop, and even though the instrumentation and the construction of the songs was still very different from what we now know as Blues, the basics were already there: the sadness, the strain, the burdens, the depression, the feeling of "blue" and – of course – the underlying musical structure. Track list: " West Africa " Cry for Home " The King Who Sold his Own " White Man Coming " Where The Blues Come From " Lord Tell Me It Won't Be Long " Work Gang " Praise The Lord " Sweet Sunday " Sing Out The Devil " Boss Man Cut My Chains We get up early in the morning Work our skin down to the bone But whenever I hear that singing I know that one day I’ll get home Oh the rhythm that I’m feeling Seems to say something good to me Oh on Monday, through the weekday But then Sunday sets us free Oh Sunday, sweet Sunday When I lay my body down Oh Sunday,my only one day With a new love that I found Sit by the water and watch the big tree In the cool breeze gently sway Til the day that we get free, well We’ll always love Our sweet Sunday Sweet Sunday I go to church with my mother I see the girl that I would love Maybe one day she’ll turn and smile at me This is what I ask the Lord above Oh when a singing When it’s over maybe I’ll take her Back to her home Talk and laugh 'til night comes calling Then I’ll go back on my own Sweet Sunday I got no money to buy her new shoes But Lord please listen what I say Help me through this 'til I’m a free man And get sweet Sunday every day Sweet Sunday, sweet Sunday... Chris Rea - Hobo Love Blues (Blue Guitars, Electric Memphis Blues)

03:40
Chris Rea - Hobo Love Blues, Blue Guitars 2005, Album Number Four - Electric Memphis Blues. Blue Guitars is a Blues album released by Chris Rea on October 14, 2005 consisting of eleven CDs, one DVD and a full colour book, including paintings by the artist, liner notes and song lyrics. The album is an ambitious project with the 137 songs recorded over the course of 1½ years with a work schedule - according to Chris Rea himself - of twelve hours a day, seven days a week. The collection is the fifth and last release in a line of Blues recordings Chris Rea has made since recovering from a serious disease at the turn of the millennium and promising himself a return to his Bluesy roots in the event that he survived. Album Number Four - Electric Memphis Blues The title says it all, "Going Electric", that's what this album is about, and what a change it was for the Blues and Blues Musicians, finally they could make themselves heard among the loud crowds and stuffed places, they usually used to play. It was a tremendous change in the way, the Blues could be approached, fine and subtle figures and fine chord structures could suddenly be played, the Blues was rising to previously unbeknown heights: "Now I can play above the bar noise, Man I'm bigger than a crowd" as Rea states in the opener "Electric Guitar", which perfectly paraphrases, what musicians must have felt, after this milestone revolution. Nor did "electric" stop at the guitars - organs, pianos, keyboards, all was going electric, studios started to play around with the new electric sound, the possibilities seemed endless. Tracklist: " Electric Guitar " Electric Memphis Blues " All Night Long " Born Bad " Let's Start Again " What I'm Looking For " Rules Of Love " What You Done To Me " Hobo Love Blues " Pass Me By " The Soul Of My Father's Shadow " My Blue World Says Hello I got a hobo love Sure can't tie me down Now I got a hobo love Sure can't turn me down My mama used to say That boy sure can't stick around I got a thin blade in my boot strap And I use it every day Yeah I got a thin blade in my boot strap And I use it every day When they see me pull it out Oh, they always move away I don't know why I keep moving Yeah I go from town to town I don't know why I keep moving Yeah I go from town to town Yes, my mama she was right I just can't settle down I can hear the devil laughing At the Lord from way above Oh, I can hear the devil laughing At the Lord from way above Yeah, the Devil know he got me Cos I can't quit this hobo love Oh, the Devil know he got me Cos I can't quit this hobo love Can't quit it no more I can't quit this hobo love... Daisy Rock Guitar -- Guitars Exclusively For Girls

00:40
http://www.best-price-for-sale.com/blog/index.php/daisy-rock-guitar/ Guitars exclusively for girls! In case you haven't heard of Daisy Rock guitars, it's most likely that you are not a girl. Daisy Rock, carry a guitar line-up specifically made for girls and handcrafted by a girl named Tish Ciravolo. Tish created a guitar company which she called Daisy Rock in the year 2000. Her main goal is to fill the void of guitars geared towards the feminine sex. As the market for guitars are only aimed to the masculine side, she made it a point to create guitars specifically for girls. Daisy Rock guitars are generally inexpensive, with nearly all models falling somewhere between two-hundred and seven-hundred dollars in price. All the same, the company has quickly become a force to be reckoned with thanks to the stars that showcase Daisy Rock axes in concert. These include Top 40 mainstay Avril Lavigne, Wanda Jackson, and the Bangles. Many "girl" power groups seem to flock toward these guitars not necessarily for the supreme craftsmanship of the models but more because of the association with feminine pride that allegiance to a female-made guitar brand would allow. Tracklist: " Electric Guitar " Electric Memphis Blues " All Night Long " Born Bad " Let's Start Again " What I'm Looking For " Rules Of Love " What You Done To Me " Hobo Love Blues " Pass Me By " The Soul Of My Father's Shadow " My Blue World Says Hello Caught the midnight train I go hustling through the night I caught the midnight train I go hustling through the night Gonna jump off north of Memphis When my hometown's out of sight They say there's only the Devil waiting In the big city way up there They say there's only the Devil waiting for me In the big city way up there What they don't seem to know What I been through I just don't care, no Gonna get me one of them Shiny new electric guitars I'm gonna get me one of them Shiny new electric guitars All my best friends say Well, that's how they're gonna know who you are Electric Memphis Electric Memphis Blues Electric Memphis Electric Memphis Blues Electric Memphis See me coming through...

The Blue Guitars - A Fool Is A Star (Shellfish, 1992)

02:06
The Blue Guitars (Deventer, Holland) form in ‘88 by brothers Dick and Bert Dykman as a duo, later a trio and finally in ‘90 as a quartet. They release their first single on a small dutch vinyl label called KELT. The band gets signed by Play It Again Sam Records and team up with former Pere Ubu and Red Krayola genius Mayo Thompson to record their selfcalled debut (91). They tour extensively, record their Second album “Shellfish”(92), play a couple of festivals (Roskilde, Denmark) and keep on touring. Then drummer Ben Heersping leaves the band (‘93). Dick Bert and Erik back up U.S. singer-songwriter Joe Henry on his first European tour and begin the quest for a new drummer. Marti Frank who played with Austin,Texas’ own Pat Mears joins the band. Together with The Black Eyed Angels Blue Guitars record country and western sidestep “Music From Heaven”(93) just for fun live in two days. They record “Waterwings”(94) again with producer MayoThompson. Blue Guitars play South By South West in Austin,Texas: ” With his leathery, Cat Stevens-like voice, singer Dick Dykman leads what is primarily a folk band into a hostile fuzzy universe. He even acquits himself honorably. The band takes cues from R.E.M. except they substitute mood for melody”. In 1995 Blue Guitars split up. “The hunger for success? Well we ate all our good reviews” Bass – Erik Van Loo Drums – Ben Heersping Engineer – Bodo Staiger, Mayo Thompson, Sander Jansen*, Ward Van Groenland Guitar – Bert Dijkman, Dick Dijkman Piano, Arranged By [Additional] – Ward Van Groenland Producer – Blue Guitars, The* Recorded By – Sander Jansen* (tracks: 1 to 11, 13) Steel Guitar – Wim Elsinga* Violin – Juul Scheffer Vocals – Dick Dijkman

Having performed the track to a worldwide audience over the past 12 years, 'Ocean' is today available FREE as an MP3, grab your copy here: http://www.johnbutlertrio.com/ocean  "OCEAN is a very interesting aspect of my life. It is part of my DNA. It conveys all things I can't put into words. Life, loss, love, spirit. As I evolve so too does 'Ocean'. The song was first recorded as part of my first album/cassette, "Searching For Heritage", which I sold when I busked, then for my first self-titled studio album 12 years ago -- "John Butler (1998)". The song has been watched online incredibly over 25 million times in various formats, nearly always live, be it from MusicMax Sessions or from one of the many festivals I have had the pleasure to play. I'd like to thank you for your continued support over all these years; it means so much to me. I would like to thank you by offering this first studio recording of 'Ocean' in over a decade as a free download. I recorded it in my favourite studio, The Compound here in Fremantle Western Australia, a studio you helped me build. This marks just another fleeting moment in a career that is very much ongoing. I look forward to bringing you many new songs and albums into the future and continuing this amazing journey with you ALL. THANK YOU, J.B"

Lyrics Girl, you taught me how to hurt real bad And cry myself to sleep And showed me how this town can shatter dreams Another lesson 'bout a naive fool Who came to Babylon And found out that the pie Don't taste so sweet Now it's guitars, cadillacs, hillbilly music Lonely, lonely streets that I call home Yea, my guitars, cadillacs, hillbilly music It's the only thing that keep me hangin' on Ain't no glamour in this tinsle land Of lost and wasted lives Painful scars are all that's left of me I wanna thank-you girl for teachin' me Brand new ways to be cruel Like findin' mine now I guess I'll just leave And it's guitars, cadillacs, hillbilly music Lonely, lonely streets that I call home Yea, my guitars, cadillacs, hillbilly music It's the only thing that keep me hangin' on Oh it's guitars, cadillacs, hillbilly music Lonely, lonely streets that I call home Yea, my guitars, cadillacs, hillbilly music It's The only thing that keep me hangin' on It's the only thing that keep me hangin' on It's the only thing that keep me hangin' on

Chris Rea - Cool Cool Blue (Blue Guitars,60's &70's)

Chris Rea - Cool Cool Blue Blue Guitars Album (60's &70's) 2005. Amazing, Cool Cool, Blue Greece........Come And...Take It Easy... Initially the project was inspired by Bill Wyman's "Blues Odyssey" and can be called an "odyssey" in its own right, for depicting a journey through the various epochs of Blues Music, starting at its African origins and finishing with modern-time Blues from the 60s and 70s. Subsequently the eleven CDs are titled the following: "Beginnings", "Country Blues", "Louisiana & New Orleans", "Electric Memphis Blues", "Texas Blues", "Chicago Blues", "Blues Ballads", "Gospel Soul Blues & Motown", "Celtic & Irish Blues", "Latin Blues" and "60s & 70s". The collection is the fifth and last release in a line of Blues recordings Chris Rea has made since recovering from a serious disease at the turn of the millennium and promising himself a return to his Bluesy roots in the event that he survived. Album Number Eleven - '60s and '70s A new time, a new generation, a new variation of the Blues. Things had started changing once again and once again, the whole 200-year-history of the Blues was thrown over in the split of a second, when Blues suddenly started to sound old again, respect was paid to the ancestors of modern Blues music, but there was also Woodstock, the Flower Power Movement, all those kinds of currencies that were interpreting the Blues in their own way and cave it a new face. Cool cool blue Take it easy Cool cool blue Take it easy Born a fighter With a broken heart So many time you try You try to make a brand new start So many tears go by Before you realise Well chasing too high Will only make you cry You got to be cool cool blue Take it easy You got to be cool cool blue Take it easy I met an angel one time Showed me another way She had a different kind of thinking So I listened what she say She say you always fighting to break free You always crashing around It's your own crazy dream of freedom That's what keeps you chained and bound Why don't you be cool cool blue Take it easy Cool cool blue Take it easy Sometimes it ain't worth what you gotta do Sometimes it ain't worth what you gotta put yourself through Take it easy Take it easy You got to be cool cool blue Take it easy ... Chris Rea - Praise The Lord (Blue Guitars, Album 1, Beginnings)

Chris Rea - Praise The Lord, Blue Guitars - Album number One – Beginnings, 2005. Track list: " West Africa " Cry for Home " The King Who Sold his Own " White Man Coming " Where The Blues Come From " Lord Tell Me It Won't Be Long " Work Gang " Praise The Lord " Sweet Sunday " Sing Out The Devil " Boss Man Cut My Chains Well I’m talking with my brother, I’m talking with my brother I say what’s going on? What a strange kind of music Where’s it coming from? Well, they sing it in the churches They sing that Jesus saves Oh they sing about the Holy Land While they beat up on their slaves Singing praise the Lord Well I got to know this Jesus I got to find out what he do If you keep them in fine house Maybe they’ll sing for me and you Singing praise the Lord Learn the rules of sin Praise the Lord Maybe he’ll let us in Singing praise the chance This could all be true Well there’s nothing to lose For me and you So praise the Lord... Chris Rea - Catwalk Woman (Blue Guitars,Country Blues)

Chris Rea - Catwalk Woman, Blue Guitars-Album Number Two - Country Blues. Album Number Two - Country Blues Country Blues was the natural development, the original Blues would go, once it had arrived in the American South: it was a dark time, a time of fear, people had to work hard during slavery, even harder after they had been released, wandering around unemployed, aimlessly. Racism and KKK made the situation even worse, which reflected in the music, instrumentation gradually changed and the lyrics told stories of fear (KKK Blues), aimless wandering (Walkin' Country Blues), alcoholism (Too Much Drinkin'), but also the flight from prevailing conditions, maybe with another perspective for life and the future in the big cities (Ticket for Chicago). But also themes of movement (Steam Train Blues) and the faith in God and Religion (If You've Got A Friend In Jesus) were made topics of the songs, as well as the occasional search for some recreation and a good time (Dance All Night Long). The social and personal problems found their way into the music and started to change the Blues on a profound level. Tracklist: " Walkin' Country Blues " Man Gone Missing " Can't Stay Blues " Too Much Drinkin' " Catwalk Woman " If You've Got A Friend in Jesus " Head Out On The Highway " Wild Pony " Steam Train Blues " Going Up To Memphis " Somewhere Between Highway 61 & 49 " Ticket For Chicago " Dance All Night Long I see her coming down the catwalk She all silk and high heel shoes She dressed to kill anybody Oh this darling she can't lose She's a diamond in the night She kick away your aching blues But it ain't what she's wearing It's in the way that she moves Oh, it ain't what she's wearing It's in the way she moves She got a face that spins your head around She got a smile you can't refuse She got eyes that knock you over Oh this darling she can't lose She's got a see-thru silk kimono Oh I swear she gonna blow some fuse But it ain't what she's wearing, no It's in the way she moves...
