Greetings, and welcome to the world of Hublot. Today I'll be your guide to the proper usage, care, and maintenance of your Hublot Classic Fusion Ceramic King Gold. It's important to note that this automatic winding time piece, is nevertheless capable of being manually rewound, should it run down. Simply take the crown in the first position, flush to the case, and turn it in a clockwise direction, approximately 20-30 turns. This will be sufficient to restart the balance, start the advance of the seconds hand, and now you can put it on the wrist, and in conjunction with the case back winding rotor, the watch will top itself off in the course of routine use and stay energized.
However, should you wish to wind the watch to its maximum rated power reserve, of approximately 42 hours, simply continue turning in the clockwise direction. Due to the bridle-style mainspring used in this automatic watch, you cannot accidentally over wind it. Simply listen for the light click, or snap. Both completely benign, which signifies that the bridle-style mainspring has slipped and relieved access tension, that's your sign the watch is fully wound.
Now, at this point, you can put the watch on the wrist, if it's already representing correct time and date. However, there are two features that enable more precise setting of the time. The first is known as "stop seconds" or "hacking". Pull the crown out two positions from flush, and now you've stopped the balance, halt the seconds. You can synchronize the watch precisely to a referenced time, such as an online atomic clock.
The best way to do this, is to actually wait for the seconds hand to arrive at 12, then pull the crown, advance the minutes hand to the next nearest minute, and wait for the reference time, such as an online atomic clock, to catch up, minute and second. As soon as they are exactly synchronized, at that moment, push the crown back in. Now you've synchronized to a reference time.
There's another function that allows quick setting of the date. This is appropriately enough, known as the "date quick set". It's the second position out from the flush. It's one position in from setting. Now, in this position, you can turn the crown in a counterclockwise direction, and rapidly cycle and correct the date. This is ideal if you encounter an irregular length month, or if the watch should run down.
However, it's important to always keep this feature disused between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m., as these are the hours during which the watch's own automatic date jumper are engaged. Date jumping dates place over a period of hours when the watch conducts it itself. Always keep the quick set disused during this period, as attempting to use the quick set during the automatic change over, can severally damage the watch.
Now, you'll note, I returned the crown to it's flush position. This is important because there are three principle hazards with respect to watch ownership: water, magnetism, and impact. Let's start with water. In order to attain the factory rated hermatisity for this watch, which is five ATM, or 165 feet, it's important to keep the crown flush to the case, and keep its functions, such as setting and winding, disused.
You can help avoid accidental drownings, by always keeping the crown flush to the case, and using none of its functions while there is water on the watch, or if the watch is submerged. Using crown while the watch is submerged, or there's water on the case, can bypass the seals.
With respect to magnetism, it's ubiquitous, and it's in places you might not expect. It's in the closures of purses and wallets, refrigerator doors, high powered home office wiring looms, high powered speakers and sub woofers, of course, MRI equipment. It's important to note that all of these can magnetize the hairspring at the center of your balance. If you suspect, due to erratic timing, fast or slow, that your watch may have become magnetized, take it to an Hublot authorized service center, where specialized equipment is available to quickly and easily demagnetize your hairspring, and return your watches performance.
Finally, with respect to comprehensive mechanical service, Hublot recommends once every three to five years having the watch fully serviced at an authorized Hublot service center. Now, this will be a cosmetic reconditioning, restoration of water resistance, cleaning, oiling, and adjustment of the movement. It should be done only at authorized service centers, because these agencies exclusively have the trained personnel, the specialized equipment, and the original Hublot factory replacement parts to restore the performance of your watch, and protect its integrity as both an instrument, and as investment. Moreover, only these agencies are authorized to back work and parts invested, with an Hublot original factory service warranty.
