Dave Foster, Western Regional Sales Manager for Carrier Ductless, talks about exciting new technology features for Carrier Ductless products at the AHR Expo in Las Vegas.
Carrier ductless splits are a split system so you have an indoor unit and you have an outdoor unit as well like a standard split system, but unlike split systems that are standard, we use very high efficient technology to achieve some of the best efficiency ratings of any equipment in the industry today.
The use of our ductless split systems can be seen throughout any market segment in North America. We find that they are being deployed in all kinds of segments like vertical markets such as hospitality and hospitals, or schools. We are having great success in multi-family applications because the beauty of our equipment is that it provides control to the end user. Every system comes with a handheld remote that gives precise temperature control in the hands of the end user. Kind of like a remote used in a television our remote allows the end user to turn the system on or off, to adjust the temp however they want in a very, very efficient manner.
Our systems are designed with three major components in mind. They are Comfort, Efficiency, and Style. I just talked about how comfortable they are because we deliver the precise amount of warm or cool air exactly when it’s needed where it’s needed. Whether it’s one room or an entire house we’re able to accomplish what is needed there.
From an efficiency standpoint, the inverter compressors are the real secret to what we are achieving. Inverter compressors are like a variable speed compressor. As opposed to a standard system that turns on with a hard spike of electricity, inverter compressors use a lot less electricity. Having what would be called a soft start, they use very little electricity to get started and then once they ramp up to speed, they quickly satisfy temperature. Once temperature is satisfied the compressors will slow down because they are variable speed, to about half the energy consumption that a standard compressor uses. Thereby achieving low energy consumption but maintaining temperature throughout the house.
When it comes to style, well we’ve got that too. Our style is amongst the most beautiful in the industry. It’s rare to call HVAC equipment beautiful but we do that with our equipment, it’s some of the most beautiful indoor units available. Some people even say our equipment gives their home or their small business that European feel which is really fun for us.
One of the benefits about the efficiency with our equipment is that we are able to reduce the carbon footprint. Installing carrier ductless equipment is the socially responsible thing to do. By using less electricity we are able to reduce the electrical demand on the grid regardless of what community you are in
With Carrier Ductless equipment we are able to achieve some fantastic performance. We can continue heating down to -22° F outdoor temperature at a very high capacity. Some of our equipment will still deliver 80% of capacity down to -22°F and on the cooling side we are still cooling down to -13°F with no additional low ambient kits or wind baffles or anything required.
When it comes to hot temperatures no one can beat us. When it is 130°F outside our equipment is still purring right along continuing to cool. You might say where in the North American market does it get up to 130°F? Well in the desert SW when it is 114°F outside, I can tell you that a condensing unit up on a roof is probably in the 130°F range. From that standpoint we really have all bases covered from low ambient conditions to high ambient conditions carrier ductless performs extremely well.
