Scientists Finally Discovered the Truth About Easter Island

10:09
We all know that the easter island heads have bodies – that’s not a mystery at all. But how did the easter island population build hundreds of statues? Scientists have recently solved this mystery and discovered where these people disappeared to and why. For many decades, people's minds have been occupied with the mystery of Easter Island. A remote piece of volcanic soil, far away in the Pacific Ocean... But our planet hosts thousands of such lonely islands, what is so particular about this one? The mystery is concealed not in the island itself but giant stone statues covering it. Who created the world-famous huge stone heads? Did they serve any specific purpose? Where did their creators arrive from and where did they disappear? Well, it seems the answer is finally just around the corner! TIMESTAMPS What do we know about Easter Island? 1:05 Amazing facts about Easter Island 2:18 How have the statues been moved around the island? 5:25 How could create Easter Island monuments? 7:24 What happened to people on Easter Island? 8:09 SUMMARY - Where is Easter Island located? Rapa Nui (which is the name given to Easter Island by its first inhabitants) is the territory of Chile and is situated in the southern Pacific Ocean. And it is so, so far that you can easily consider it one of the most distant places on the world's map. It lies 1,200 miles away from Pitcairn, which is its closest neighbor. - What's the main secret of the statues? Most statues (834 out of 887) were carved from the material called tuff which is, in fact, compressed volcanic ash. Curiously, all the statues except one group face inland. It means their backs are turned to the ocean. Perhaps the reason for that was the belief that the statues were the protectors of the villagers that's why they overlooked the settlement. The only statues not fitting into this pattern can be found at Ahu Akivi, a sacred place for the people of Rapa Nui. - Theories about how the statues had been moved. One of the most popular ones among the lovers of mysteries was the belief that the statues had been created and moved by aliens. But even if you like this theory, we are sorry to debunk it. The stone the statues were built from originates from the island itself. The birthplace of most of the material was an extinct volcano situated in the north-east of Easter Island and not another planet. - A new study about the island. A new study has been conducted recently to specify the maximum number of the inhabitants in the heyday of the island's civilization. The results arrived, and they were quite unexpected. It turned out that as many as 17 and a half thousand people could comfortably live on the island. At least 19 percent of the land could be covered with the fields of sweet potatoes that used to be the main source of food for the population. What is more, the islanders consumed quite a lot of seafood and fish. - Why did people on Easter Island disappear? At first, it was believed that the reason for such a decrease of the population was an ecocide. The natives cut out large forests and palm trees making spare room for moving the statues around as well as agriculture. They thought the trees were going to grow back fast enough. It was a misleading concept. The deterioration of the environment resulted in hunger. And this, in turn, led to wars and cannibalism. Nowadays, however, such a theory has been proven wrong. First of all, Rapa Nui inhabitants seemed to be very talented agricultural engineers. They deliberately fertilized the fields with the volcanic rock. In fact, another research has shown that people had been living on the island for many centuries. And the population only started to decrease when Europeans began visiting. Unsolved Mysteries of Easter Island

50:29
A team of modern archaeologists, engineers, and scientists attempt to solve and explain the origin of the Moai statues by excavating, restoring and discovering new theories and conspiracies in their effort to unearth the truth of this ancient civilization. At 30 feet tall and weighing a 75 massive tons (about the size of England's enigmatic Stonehenge stones), the giant human figures are scattered about the barren environment of mountains and beaches, carved with over-sized heads without bodies, often resting on massive rock platforms buried underground and worshiped in mysterious religious ceremonies and traditions, written in native hieroglyphic languages.

Easter Island Discoveries That Left Mainstream Historians Dumbfounded

Eater Island still has many unanswered question about the mysterious inhabitants that once lived there. How did it come to be inhabited in the first place? Genetics, archaeology and linguistics all show that as a whole, Polynesia was colonised from Asia, probably from around Taiwan. The various lines of evidence suggest people began migrating east around 5500 years ago, reached Polynesia 2500 years later, before finally gaining Easter Island after another 1500 years. But the Norwegian adventurer Thor Heyerdahl thought otherwise. In the mid-20th century, he claimed that the famous Easter Island statues were similar to those at Tiahuanaco at Lake Titicaca in Bolivia, so people from South America must have travelled west across the Pacific to Polynesia. His famous Kon-Tiki expedition, in which he sailed a balsa wood raft from Peru to the Tuamotu islands of French Polynesia, showed that the trip could have been made. But if it was made, no trace remained.

Not only are there legends of a magical earth-force known as “manna,” having once been responsible for the as yet, unexplained movement and placement of the gigantic Moai statues, that can be found littering the coastlines, but there are also endless tales of astonishing bravery, often attached to feats of survival… It is believed that over its long history, several catastrophic population crashed have befallen the islanders. One in particular, according to the geology of the island, took place a very long time ago… Once covered in thick forests, dense trees fed by the fertile lands which surround the now extinct volcano, that actually once formed the landmass of Easter. At some point within antiquity, these forests experienced extreme and rapid deforestation, it is currently not known what happened to the wood acquired, but it is possible that just like the enormous statues, and indeed the inhabitants at the time, were buried under landslides, which occurred after the forests were felled. The island of Easter is in fact, an entire buried treasure, the inhabitants at the time of this deforestation, and quite possibly their entire existence was once buried under enormous landslides, these remains, possibly preserved under several metres of earth still found upon the island. Whats compelling regarding the buried remains, is that they could indeed be those of the people, who were once responsible for movement of the statues. A fragment of a civilisation that we have long stated, is not a mere few thousand years old, but very possibly a pre-ice age, world-going, highly advanced civilisation, once capable of moving stones we are yet to explain the placements of. Could there quite possibly be perfectly preserved, highly advanced ancient ruins, buried under many metres of earth all over the extremely remote Easter islands? Furthermore, could there actually be existing evidence, or possibly, the lost technology responsible for moving such stones, still within the reach of being publicly exposed, and out of the reach of conspiratorial powers who would, if capable of such a task, excavate such sites and hide away and controversial features?… Whats buried on Easter island? Could it ironically turn out to actually be a metaphysical Easter Egg, a valuable jewel in the crown of alternative, antiquarian researchers the world over? Easter island is undoubtedly an incredible place, and one which still has much to show the world regarding our past. Its an amazing thought, that a tiny place, thousands of miles out within the ocean, could hold an ancient secret, capable of affecting all of us. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Island http://www.maxresistance.com/mana-the-force-easter-island-natives-say-moved-the-moai-statues/

SHOCKING Facts You Didn't Know About Easter Island

10:58
Rapa Nui, otherwise called Easter Island, remains a bucket list tourist destination for people all over the world. The statues are the obvious draw, but we’d bet there’s a lot about this island you don’t know. Here are some of the most fascinating facts about this mysterious and remote place. Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 3. The Moai Statues Aren’t Just Heads This is one of those facts that people hear and think, “Wow, how did I never realize that?” Years of careful research has been done on the moai, otherwise called the Easter Island statues, and for years, the only pictures shown to the public were of the best specimens. The only part of these specimens showing were their heads, so maybe it's no surprise that people thought that’s all they were. The moai were generally referred to only as the Eastern Island Heads, which lent to the misconception that they were only heads. After a research team uncovered the body of the a statue, which had been buried by erosion and soil over centuries, the world was taken aback. The statues were actually much taller and much more intricate than the world had ever thought. One statue stood over 20 feet tall and another, had it been finished, would have stood about 65 feet tall. Discovery of their bodies actually led to some other interesting discoveries as well. For example, archaeologists found pounds of red pigment at their bases, used to color the statues as well as paint the bodies of the Rapa Nui people during ceremonies. This suggests they were almost certainly tended by priests and used during religious ceremonies. 2. The Rongorongo Tablets Aside from the wild Birdman Cult and the mysterious moai, there is another unsolved case on Easter Island: the Rongorongo tablets. The tablets were rediscovered in 1864 by a roman catholic friar conducting a mission on Rapa Nui. He wrote that he had found 26 tablets in total, saying the current owners of the tablets cannot even say what the glyphs mean, suggesting the glyphs are part of a very old ritual on Rapa Nui. The tablets are crafted of wood, believed to have been carved sometime in the year 1200. The people living on Rapa Nui today do speak Rapa Nui, but many also speak Spanish. The native people have also taken the latin alphabet as their form of writing, but the Rongorongo tablets suggest that Rapa Nui had its own writing system at one point. The tablets are covered in glyphs, each about a centimeter high, that show animals, plants, geometric shapes, and what appear to be astronomical symbols and is read left to right, bottom to top. The Rongorongo writing, if it even is that, could be an incredible find because it would have been one of the world’s few writing systems that developed independently of outside influence. The downside to this is that no one has been able to decipher the tablets. The glyphs are unknown to modern residents and there are no outside texts to help with translation. Whatever the tablets say, we may never know. However, it is clear that the Rapa Nui inhabitants had something to say that was important enough for hours of tedious work using a shark tooth to carve into their most scarce resource: palm tree wood. 1. Keeping Culture Alive The current population of Rapa Nui is just under 6,000 people. 60% of those living on Easter Island are Rapa Nui people. With the colonization of Rapa Nui, many cultural traditions and secrets were lost forever, but the modern people have many ways of keeping their culture alive through music, food, language and a few other interesting practices. The most popular is Tapati Rapa Nui or Rapa Nui Week, which takes place in February. During this week of cultural festivities, old practices are revived to teach children of their heritage and celebrate the past of Easter Island. As part of the festivities, two girls are chosen to compete for “Queen” of Rapa Nui for the rest of the year. They compete in athletic competitions to gain points and the girl with the most points is crowned. Other than the festival, there are other practices which keep the culture alive in Rapa Nui. For example, if you are not native to the island and have Rapa Nui heritage, you are not legally able to purchase land on the island.

What Really Happened on Easter Island?? The Mystery of Easter Island Classic Documentary phoenixXchannel Easter Island (Rapa Nui) is a Chilean island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean, at the southeasternmost point of the Polynesian Triangle. Easter Island is famous for its 887 extant monumental statues, called moai, created by the early Rapa Nui people. In 1995, UNESCO named Easter Island a World Heritage Site, with much of the island protected within Rapa Nui National Park. Polynesian people most likely settled on Easter Island sometime between 700 and 1100 CE, and created a thriving and industrious culture as evidenced by the island's numerous enormous stone moai and other artifacts. However, human activity, the introduction of the Polynesian rat and overpopulation led to gradual deforestation and extinction of natural resources which severely weakened the Rapa Nui civilization. By the time of European arrival in 1722, the island's population had dropped to 2,000–3,000 from an estimated high of approximately 15,000 just a century earlier. European diseases and Peruvian slave raiding in the 1860s further reduced the Rapa Nui population, to a low of only 111 inhabitants in 1877. Surprise: Easter Island Heads Have Bodies Too

04:48
The Secret Of Easter Island Mystery Solved! The Easter Island Heads Have Bodies Too. Are the bodies of the giant Easter island heads hiding beneath the ground? That's what were going to find out today here on Hoax Factor I was sent this image from Adam one of my Hoax Factor Subscribers on Facebook who asked me if it were true, that there were bodies attached to the heads at Easter Island lurking below the earth's surface. Even though I'm a car insurance salesman by day, I'm a hoax buster by night. It sure is a lot more fun to do this than run car insurance quotes all day long. As you can see, the lead text to the article attached to the image says...Archaeologists have known since 1919 that Easter Island heads have bodies. Did you? The image even though its an artists rendition is compelling. 2 Stone faced maoi are shown above the ground, but the massive shoulders imply a giant lurks below. Its time for some questions. #1 Is it true that the Easter Island Heads have bodies and Archaeologists have known about this since 1919? #2 How big and tall is an Easter Island Maoi when its fully unearthed? #3 Where can I get cheap airline tickets to see these in person? because drinking my redbull and vodka out of this mug so I can work all night isn't cutting it anymore! #1 Is it true that the Easter Island Heads have bodies and Archaeologists have known about this since 1919? Easter Island is located in the southeastern pacific ocean. It is most famous for a collection of 887 giant statues called Moai that were built by the Rapa Nui People. The island got its name from a Dutch explorer who f irst encountered the island on Easter Sunday in 1722. Polynesian people settled the island sometime between 700 and 1100 CE. The Maoi were created by these Polynesian settlers sometime between 1250 and 1500 CE Most were created at the main Moai quarry Rano Raraku with hundreds later moved and set on stone platforms (ahu) all around the island. These stoic faced statues are thought to be symbols of power and authority and might hold both religious and political symbolism as well. Most were built with over sized heads (3/8 the size of the whole statue) and a lot of focus has been on the 150 statues on the slope of the volcano that just happen to be buried in the ground up to their heads. Both of these facts has lead many people to believe they are just heads, which is why they are usually referred to as the Easter Island Heads. But to answer the question. Yes they do have bodies. And this fact has been known since 1914, 5 years earlier than what was stated on the image. #2 How big and tall is an Easter Island Maoi when its fully unearthed? Out of the 887 Moai on the island all but 53 of the statues were carved out of compressed volcanic ash. The average Moai stands about 13 feet tall and are over 5 feet wide at the base and top the scales at a whopping 13.8 tons each. The tallest of the Moai is a statue called Paro and it is almost 33 feet high and weighs over 80 tons. One statue that was never finished would have topped out at almost 70 feet tall and weigh over 270 tons. Some of the more interesting things discovered about these mysterious creations. The eye sockets were designed to hold coral eyes with black obsidian or scoria pupils. This is a photo of the statue Ahu Tahai with replica eyes in place. The article also stated that the Moai were covered in petroglyphs. This is true. In 1914 an expedition held by Katherine Routledge determined that the designs on the Maoi had a definite cultural link tied to the island inhabitants tattooing traditions. But most interesting of all... The statues may have also been created as a spiritual plea to the gods to undo the ravages of leprosy that had been experienced there. According to Dr Annelise Pontius, certain characteristics of the Moai represent signs of leprosy in a reversed or over corrected form like pronounced stylized nostrils vs a nose' cartilage destroyed by leprosy. The Moai also had upward placing of the lips with no teeth visible. Instead of Lower hanging lips and visible teeth due to facial paralysis. Whatever the reasons for their being created we will never know for sure, but the Rapa Nui left us plenty to talk about. #3 Where can I get cheap airline tickets to see these in person? because drinking my red bull and vodka out of this mug so I canwork all night isn't cutting it anymore! Well...Easter Island is one of the most remote inhabited islands in the world so cheap airline tickets are probably out of the questions and I'm all out of vacation time ...so its another night of drowning with my little moai buddy. So to wrap this up! To call the image a fake is a bit harsh, so we will just go with it being an artistic interpretation of the Moai...the story is real, but somewhat factually inaccurate. The Moai do have bodies, but Archaeologist have known about them since 1914, not 1919.

Mystery of Easter Island in Bengali

Easter Island’s most famous features are its enormous stone statues called moai, at least 288 of which once stood upon massive stone platforms called ahu. There are some 250 of these ahu platforms spaced approximately one half mile apart to create an almost unbroken line around the perimeter of the island. Another 600 moai statues, in various stages of completion, are scattered throughout the island. Nearly all the moai are carved from the hard stone of the Rano Raraku volcano. This Strange Scary Island Has Been Keeping a Secret for 80 Years

10:56
Our story begins in the Tasman Sea, the body of water between Australia and New Zealand. It’s exactly here where the Lord Howe Island Group had been lying unperturbed until 1788. That year changed everything in the history of this lost place as British lieutenant Henry Lidgbird Ball discovered the central island of this group as he was on his way to nearby Norfolk Island. Having fulfilled his mission, Ball was heading home when he decided to claim a newly-uncovered territory for his country. At that time, nobody could’ve imagined the surprises this island would have in store for people decades later! After Ball’s discovery, permanent settlements had already been established on the main island by 1834. Despite being just 6.2 miles long, Lord Howe Island represented (and still represents) an idyllic picture of a tropical paradise. As for the rest of the islands belonging to this group, they were mostly rocky volcanic landmasses. Easter Island: 12 Real Historical Events That Will Blow Your Mind

02:18
Please watch: "The 10 Hottest Sex Positions Ranked By YOU" ➨ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkRFntsbb8k -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- The mystery of Easter Island and the Moai statues that inhabit it is something that most of us are at least vaguely familiar with, but the fact that there are still so many legitimate unanswered questions surrounding the island is in itself quite remarkable. The story starts on Easter Day in 1722, when a Dutch explorer happened upon something strange. He was originally in search of a hypothetical land mass called Terra Australis, thought to exist only because at the time they thought that the northern and southern hemispheres should be balanced. Instead though, he discovered an island in the Southeastern Pacific Ocean, which he would later name Easter Island due to the date of its discovery. He was surprised to discover that the island was inhabited, and he reported seeing 2,000 to 3,000 people there. This was surprising, because the island is... well… really far from anything else at all. A staggering 1,200 miles away from the nearest inhabited land, and about 2,200 miles off the coast of of Chile. And yet despite its incredible remoteness, The Rapa Nui people who called the island home managed to carve and transport a mind-blowing 887 statues, some measuring 33 feet tall and weighing up to 82 tons, an average of 11 miles each. And this all happened roughly 700 years ago. The biggest remaining question mark concerning the statues themselves is definitely their transportation. Theories have been proposed that involve ropes, sleds, rollers, leveled tracks, or even that the people slowly rocked the statues back and forth to their destination. Attempts have been made to recreate the methods that could have been used, but most resulted in damage to the statues, or would have required hundreds of people making just 0.05 miles of progress per day. The truth is, we don’t really know exactly how they did it. But however the Rapa Nui managed to move the Moai, they would have certainly needed to be incredibly patient, creative, and organized to make them a reality. The Hidden Secret of the Statues on Easter Island What Really Happened On Easter Island

02:05
This HD video documentary reveals how Easter Island's Moai statues were constructed by experimenting with ancient engineering method and mysterious traditions, modern archaeological scientists and engineers try and recreate and decipher the secrets of the Easter Island statues. The scientists explain how and why they were erected, with commentary on its design and purpose. The statues are carved stone human figures with over-sized heads, often resting on massive rock platforms called ahus buried underground. There are 1,000 stone statues that exist on the island, 30 feet tall, weighing a colossal 75 tons. The magnificent art stone statues are scattered about the mysterious barren landscape, in the mountains and close to the ocean. To early European explorers the amazing impact of these monstrous stone statues/ Without mechanical engines, how were they built? Without modern equipment how were the stones cut? Easter Island society and tradition was tribal and primitive culture, with black magic religious priests, chieftains writing strange hieroglyphic writing languages known as rongorongo. Yet this culture built monolithic statues not unlike Europe's Stonehenge.

Mystery of Easter Island: Moai Statues - Part 2

14:58
The moai are monolithic statues, their minimalist style related to forms found throughout Polynesia. Moai are carved in relatively flat planes, the faces bearing proud but enigmatic expressions. The human figures would be outlined in the rock wall first, then chipped away until only the image was left. The over-large heads (a three-to-five ratio between the head and the trunk, a sculptural trait that demonstrates the Polynesian belief in the sanctity of the chiefly head) have heavy brows and elongated noses with a distinctive fish-hook-shaped curl of the nostrils. The lips protrude in a thin pout. Like the nose, the ears are elongated and oblong in form. The jaw lines stand out against the truncated neck. The torsos are heavy, and, sometimes, the clavicles are subtly outlined in stone. The arms are carved in bas relief and rest against the body in various positions, hands and long slender fingers resting along the crests of the hips, meeting at the hami (loincloth), with the thumbs sometimes pointing towards the navel. Generally, the anatomical features of the backs are not detailed, but sometimes bear a ring and girdle motif on the buttocks and lower back. Except for one kneeling moai, the statues do not have clearly visible legs.

THE MYSTERY OF EASTER ISLAND RAPA NUI 1940s DOCUMENTARY FILM 53534

12:44
Produced by Simmel-Meservey and with a story by Jackson Winter, THE MYSTERY OF EASTER ISLAND is an obscure documentary look at the stone statues that populate Easter Island. It likely dates to the late 1940s or early 1950s. The film does not present any answers to the questions it raises, and has many false assumptions that have been disproven by modern research. Still, it is an interesting look at the island in the mid-20th century. The Compania Explotadora de las Isla de Pascua, the Chilean company that administrates the Island, is mentioned in a prologue. The film takes a look at the barren landscape of Rapa Nui and its iconic statues. At 2:30, the native village of Hanga Roa is shown. At 3:00, the annual visit of a supply boat from Chile is seen. The boat services a sheep farm on the island. At 4:30, an extinct volcano is shown where the quarries for the statues are seen. At 4:50, tourists visit some of the 485 statues found on the island. At 6:30, a statue is seen in the quarry, including at 6:40 a gigantic 66 foot statue. At 7:00, tools for making the statues are seen. At 7:20, a BBQ is conducted for visiting tourists. At 8:00, remains of ahu are seen on the island, where they have fallen. At 11:15, the question of how the "monsters" were moved is raised, given that there were no draft animals available and no trees on the island. Easter Island (Rapa Nui: Rapa Nui, Spanish: Isla de Pascua) is a Chilean island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean, at the southeasternmost point of the Polynesian Triangle in Oceania. Easter Island is one of the most remote inhabited islands in the world.[6] The nearest inhabited land (around 50 residents in 2013) is Pitcairn Island, 2,075 kilometres (1,289 mi) away; the nearest town with a population over 500 is Rikitea, on the island of Mangareva, 2,606 km (1,619 mi) away; the nearest continental point lies in central Chile, 3,512 kilometres (2,182 mi) away. Easter Island is a special territory of Chile that was annexed in 1888. Administratively, it belongs to the Valparaíso Region, and, more specifically, it is the only commune of the Province Isla de Pascua.[8] According to the 2012 Chilean census, the island has about 5,800 residents, of whom some 60 percent are descendants of the aboriginal Rapa Nui. Easter Island is considered part of Insular Chile. We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment!
