Travel by cruise ship to Panama Canal (HD)

09:07
Travel by cruise ship to Panama Canal , Visit Panama Canal, Panama Canal Tours, Panama Canal Vacation Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube The Panama Canal is a 77.1-kilometre (48 mi) ship canal in Panama that connects the Atlantic Ocean (via the Caribbean Sea) to the Pacific Ocean. The canal cuts across the Isthmus of Panama and is a key conduit for international maritime trade. There are locks at each end to lift ships up to Gatun Lake, an artificial lake created to reduce the amount of excavation work required for the canal, 26 metres (85 ft) above sea level. The current locks are 33.5 metres (110 ft) wide. A third, wider lane of locks is currently under construction and is due to open in 2016. France began work on the canal in 1881, but had to stop because of engineering problems and high mortality due to disease. The United States took over the project in 1904, and took a decade to complete the canal, which was officially opened on August 15, 1914. One of the largest and most difficult engineering projects ever undertaken, the Panama Canal shortcut greatly reduced the time for ships to travel between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, enabling them to avoid the lengthy, hazardous Cape Horn route around the southernmost tip of South America via the Drake Passage or Strait of Magellan. The shorter, faster, and safer route to the U.S. West Coast and to nations in and around the Pacific Ocean allowed those places to become more integrated with the world economy. It takes between 20 and 30 hours to traverse the canal. During construction, ownership of the territory that is now the Panama Canal was first Colombian, then French, and then American. The US continued to control the canal and surrounding Panama Canal Zone until the 1977 Torrijos–Carter Treaties provided for handover to Panama. After a period of joint American–Panamanian control, the canal was taken over by the Panamanian government in 1999, and is now managed and operated by the Panama Canal Authority, a Panamanian government agency. Annual traffic has risen from about 1,000 ships in 1914, when the canal opened, to 14,702 vessels in 2008, the latter measuring a total of 309.6 million Panama Canal/Universal Measurement System (PC/UMS) tons. By 2008, more than 815,000 vessels had passed through the canal; the largest ships that can transit the canal today are called Panamax. The American Society of Civil Engineers has named the Panama Canal one of the seven wonders of the modern world.

Amazing Flying Boat - Future of Sea Travel

03:04
The AirFish 8 (AF8) is an 8-10 seater WIG Craft with a 17m x 15m footprint. It is designed to be operated by 2 crew and carrying capacity for 6-8 passengers in standard civilian transport configuration. It is powered by a powerful yet compact V8 car engine that runs on 95 Octane automotive-grade unleaded gasolines. Airfish 8 is designed and built to adhere to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) guidelines. Safe and Comfortable Fast and Fuel Efficient Environmentally Friendly Minimum Infrastructure to Operate Fitted with the engine of a race car -- specifically a 7-litre V8 engine -- and resembling the look of a sleek seaplane, the Airfish 8 is in fact classified as a merchant ship. Based in Singapore, the company behind it, Wigetworks, hopes to change the way people travel and offer a whole host of other uses with this innovative craft. For Sim Wong Hoo, a shareholder of Wigetworks and Founder of Creative Technology, the goal is to “transform, or revolutionize the high-speed maritime transport industry.” Hovering about 2-6 metres above water and with the capability to reach top speed of 180 km/hr -- 2 to 3 times faster than ferries -- the Airfish 8 doesn’t require a jetty or runway to dock since it lands on water. This means that island-exploration becomes all the more easier as the craft can reach areas where ferries and boats would be unable to. Explaining the possibilities to explore the thousands of islands in Indonesia, Philippines, Polynesia and the Caribbean amongst others, Sim shares that the craft, which currently sits up to 8 passengers, will no doubt offer a better alternative for travel to these countries and “open up many hitherto unexplored frontiers.” Using technology first started by the Russians in 1960, the Airfish 8 itself is based on a German prototype and is the world’s first to be registered as a merchant ship with the Singapore Registry of Shipping. Utilizing the Wing-In-Ground (WIG) effect, the craft essentially flies close to the water surface while supported by a field of high-pressure air beneath its wings and above the water surface. This creates the impression that it's simply gliding above a cushion of air. Travelling above the water surface also means there’s no hydrodynamic drag, making the craft much more fuel-efficient. According to Sim, take off and landing is relatively swift and effortless when the water is flat, but it can get a little rough when the waves are high. However, that only lasts for about 30-45 seconds, and once airborne, the ride would be smooth and easy regardless of the waves below. Besides the obvious island-hopping, Sim also explains how the craft could prove beneficial in other areas such as crew transfer from base to off-shore oil platforms, paramilitary applications for coast guards and marine police, oil spill recovery, transportation of cargoes, goods, and fresh seafood, as well as other military applications. “WIGs fill in a very nice niche in that it travels at the speed of seaplanes and helicopters, in a far safer manner, at a cost that is not much more - probably around the same as a high-speed boat,” said Sim. Currently in the trial phase, the Airfish 8 is slated to be operational by the second half of 2018. As for future plans, the team at Wigetworks intends to lower costs in order to appeal to mid-range resorts for transfers, as well as to explore hybridization, autonomization and create bigger, safer and more efficient crafts that fit up to 20-40 passengers. Till then, it could do you no wrong to start planning trips to some of the unexplored islands in the region. Antalya and the International Sea Resort | 80 days Down and Out Around the world | Travel Tura

02:41
Hello travel lover! After the capital, we are now in Antalya. This city is famous for its beaches and cultural attractions and for being Turkey's biggest international sea resort located in the Turquoise Coast. Located 12 kilometres of Antalya, the Düden Waterfalls are a group of waterfalls that drop off a rocky cliff directly into the Mediterranean Sea. This, with other wonderful secrets, is one of the many things to see when you go to Antalya. Among other natural spots, the city’s old town, Kaleiçi is the historic city center of Antalya. The Alaaddin or Yivli Minare Mosque, commonly also called Ulu Mosque, just next to the old city shows how magnificent their culture is and what place it has in their daily life. Turkey can sometimes be seen as dangerous but its background and culture is something to see once in a lifetime... We hope you enjoyed our video. Kiribati: a drowning paradise in the South Pacific | DW Documentary

42:51
Climate change and rising sea levels mean the island nation of Kiribati in the South Pacific is at risk of disappearing into the sea. But the island’s inhabitants aren’t giving up. They are doing what they can to save their island from inundation. Can COP23 help make a difference? UN estimates indicate that Kiribati could disappear in just 30 or 40 years. That’s because the average elevation is less than two meters above sea level. And some of the knock-on effects of climate change have made the situation more difficult. Kiribati can hardly be surpassed in terms of charm and natural beauty. There are 33 atolls and one reef island – spread out over an area of 3.5 million square kilometers. All have white, sandy beaches and blue lagoons. Kiribati is the world’s largest state that consists exclusively of atolls. A local resident named Kaboua points to the empty, barren land around him and says, "There used to be a large village here with 70 families." But these days, this land is only accessible at low tide. At high tide, it's all under water. Kaboua says that sea levels are rising all the time, and swallowing up the land. That’s why many people here build walls made of stone and driftwood, or sand or rubbish. But these barriers won't stand up to the increasing number of storm surges. Others are trying to protect against coastal erosion by planting mangrove shrubs or small trees. But another local resident, Vasiti Tebamare, remains optimistic. She works for KiriCAN, an environmental organization. Vasiti says: "The industrialized countries -- the United States, China, and Europe -- use fossil fuels for their own ends. But what about us?" Kiribati's government has even bought land on an island in Fiji, so it can evacuate its people in an emergency. But Vasiti and most of the other residents don't want to leave. _______ Exciting, powerful and informative – DW Documentary is always close to current affairs and international events. Navi Mumbai International Airport Sea Bridge

16:26
A bridge connecting Navi Mumbai International Airport with Mumbai city in only 18 minutes! In this WEBEO, I have laid out a possible location of a trans-harbour highway bridge on Google Maps, linking the two sides of the Thane Creek together. The Mumbai metro region is growing rapidly and a new airport is being constructed to alleviate traffic at the existing Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Sahar. This airport, along with the booming suburbs of Navi Mumbai City, need quick and efficient transport to old Bombay, but are currently restricted to the Sion-Panvel expressway as their only crossing point. The new expressway I proposed will connect the airport, Panvel, and the Mumbai-Pune expressway directly with Mumbai, at a junction with Mumbai’s Eastern Freeway and the Sewri-Chembur link road, providing easy connections to Sewri, Worli, Fort/CST, Nariman Point, and the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). It will be six lanes and consist of two cable-stayed sections, the longer of which is 1.1km long. With the construction of the six-lane expressway, travel time from Panvel and the Navi Mumbai International Airport will decrease from 75 minutes to only 18 minutes. Speed Limit = 100 km/h Bridge Length = 11.7 kilometres By: Atharv Gupte http://www.webeotransportation.com/ http://www.facebook.com/webeotransportation/

Exploring St. Kitts on an ATV | Symphony of the Seas Cruise Vlog Day 5

35:40
It's Day 5 of Sean and Stef's Caribbean Cruise on the Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas. Today Sean and Stef are exploring St. Kitts for the first time and they're exploring the island on an ATV. First Sean and Stef start off with breakfast at Park Cafe and then they disembark from the Symphony of the Seas and enter the St. Kitts Port. From there, Sean and Stef meet up with Sunny Blue Scooter Rentals and they are escorted to a van ready to take them to their ATV rental for the day. After a short van ride, Sean and Stef arrive at Sunny Blue Scooter Rentals and check in. Sean and Stef grab their helmets and get a quick lesson about their ATV. Sean and Stef set off to explore St. Kitts and make their first stop above a beach that has black sand. From there Sean and Stef journey to the Brimstone Hill Fortress. They make their way up the mountain, see monkeys and explore the amazing views and history of Brimstone Hill Fortress. After an amazing time at Brimstone Hill Fortress Sean and Stef travel to Black Rock where Sean holds a green vervet monkey. From Black Rock Sean and Stef drive their ATV to Sir Timothy's Hill where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea. Time is running out and Sean and Stef make their way back to Sunny Blue Scooter Rentals. From there, Winston offered to let Sean drive one of their dune buggies back to the ship. Naturally Sean said yes. So Sean, Stef and their new friend Winston from Sunny Blue Scooter Rentals drive back to the Symphony of the Seas in style, in an awesome dune buggie. Sean and Stef loved every second of exploring St. Kitts on an ATV. Sean and Stef booked this excursion independently from the ship and they were not compensated for their excursion in any way. Check out Sunny Blue Scooter Rentals in St. Kitts http://www.sunnybluerental.com Sean and Stef grab a magnet from a shop in port just before heading back to the Symphony of the Seas. Sean and Stef enjoy a fantastic dinner at Jamie's Italian, the freshest Italian food they've ever had at sea. Some of the truly best pasta and desserts ever. After an amazing dining experience at Jamie's Italian, Sean and Stef journey to the top of the Symphony of the Seas to relax and recover from a massive meal. Then Sean and Stef head over to the Aqua Theater for a performance of the Hiro Dive Show. What a fantastic end to an amazing day on the world's largest cruise ship, the Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas. _________________________________________________________ Find out more about The Key program here: https://seanandstefirl.blog/2019/02/11/the-key-unlock-exclusive-benefits-on-royal-caribbean/ _________________________________________________________ ▶ Want to know more about Sean and Stef? Ships in storms can be so creepy to look at. Just look at those terrifying monster waves from those incredible videos. Those ships in rough seas sure look creepy. I wouldn't want to be in a ship in storm at sea.

13 Secrets Cruise Ships Are Hiding From You

11:26
How to Save Money Traveling? How does a cruise ship function? The more travel experience you gain, the better you’ll understand that there are some things crew members don't tell you about. And you only get to know about off-the-menu treats or good deals on onboard purchases if you're really lucky. This video will open your eyes to 13 secrets cruise ship crews don't want you to know. TIMESTAMPS You should know that there are no all-inclusive cruises. 1:22 Every cruise ship has a jail on board. 2:53 Every cruise ship also has a morgue on board. 3:44 There are secret codes. 4:44 Befriend the crew — you may get amazing perks! 5:44 There's a secret pool available for a chosen few. 6:23 Ask for adults-only areas. 6:56 The crew has anti-pirate training. 7:35 The bigger your ship is, the higher the risk of a fire. 8:15 People gain weight on cruises. 8:50 Your ship will easily leave you behind. 9:16 Disease outbreaks are not uncommon on cruise ships. 9:51 People go missing from cruise ships. 10:29 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -Most specialty restaurants are free, as are the buffets and main dining rooms. If you are unwilling to pay extra, avoid spas and salons. For such classes as yoga, dancing, or Pilates, you'll most likely have to pay about $10. -Each cruise ship has its own very real jail called “the brig.” This prison typically consists of several small rooms with only a bed for furniture. -Sadly, cases of people passing away on cruise ships aren't so rare. In fact, about 200 people pass away while on a cruise every year. -If you hear an announcement of “Operation Bright Star” or “Alpha, Alpha, Alpha,” there's a medical emergency on board. And “Operation Rising Star" means that a passenger has died. -If you manage to befriend some staff members, you might be able to have a much more exuberant trip. -A hot tub, sometimes accompanied by a swimming pool, situated in the front of the ship in the staff-only area. -Adults-only zones are much calmer and more relaxing than the rest of the ship. If you don't see such a place, ask a crew member. -Pirates do exist nowadays, and from time to time they even attempt to attack cruise ships. There have been 6 such cases recorded, but only one of them was successful. -Between 1999 and 2011, 79 fires happened on cruise ships. What's more, since 2006, the number of fires per year has doubled. -People gain between 5 and 10 extra pounds on a week-long cruise. It definitely depends on how much they work out while cruising and how many alcoholic cocktails they drink each day. -Nobody on the ship has any obligations to wait for you as cruise ships have to stick to a very strict schedule. -Everyone on the ship lives in close quarters and shares dining areas. Even if one infected person gets on board, this may result in a disastrous gastrointestinal outbreak. -According to statistics from the Cruise Victims Association, 165 people went missing between 1995 and 2011. Some sources state that this number could be as high as 200 people. 3 Days Travel In Moalboal Cebu : Kawasan Falls, Sea Turtles, Sardines

12:49
Come get lost with me as I spend 3 days in Moalboal on Cebu Island in the Philippines. From Kawasan Falls to sardine runs and swimming with sea turtles, there's lots of things to do. I arrive at Mactan-Cebu International Airport from Singapore and begin my adventures in Moalboal. Transportation from Cebu City took 4 hours by bus. And I spend the rest of the day getting situated; which is when I met some fellow backpackers. I was invited to join them from for a visit to Kawasan Falls on the second day and we spend the day there and at Basdaku White Beach for sunset. The next day, we went to a beach 15 mins from where we stayed, JJ's Place, and went snorkling to see sardines and sea turtles. Moalboal is amazing, a must visit for anyone coming to the Philippines. What a fun trip there! There's so much things to do. Is German agriculture destroying the Baltic Sea's peat bogs? | DW Documentary

28:26
Peat plays a key role in Germany’s agriculture, but the country is running out of it. One German company is now importing peat from the Baltic Sea region. Ecologist Hans Joosten warns that businesses are destroying wetlands by digging up peat and selling it. That's creating a potential environmental disaster, because it releases large quantities of greenhouse gases. Joosten wants to restore drained peat bogs by covering them with water again, which will trap carbon dioxide inside them. We interview environmental activists and peat producers and visit marshlands both in inland Germany and along the Baltic Coast. And we ask: Is Germany's consumption of peat causing environmental problems for its Baltic neighbors? _______ DW Documentary gives you knowledge beyond the headlines. Watch high-class documentaries from German broadcasters and international production companies.
