Unboxing - Mac OS X Snow Leopard
This is the Unboxing of the Mac OS X Snow Leopard. This is version 10.6.3. Since Mountain Lion is coming out this Fall. I needed to buy Snow Leopard in order to get the Mac App Store. The Mac App Store is the only way to gain access to Mac OSX Lion. Which is version 10.7.4. It is a very long, yet necessary process for my iMac. Installing Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 - 10.6.6 - ASUS P7P55D - iBoot 2.6 + MultiBeast 3.0.3
Video demonstration of how I was able to install a retail purchase of Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 and update to version 10.6.6 on an ASUS P7P55D. Installing Mac OS X 10.6.1 Snow Leopard
After upgrading it downloaded an update for 10.6.1. I had a small problem in which I left the computer unattended for about 30min... just watch! XD I had to cut out a lot of parts cuz of the video's length. Anyway, it's really good, I've been using it now for about 3 days and it's been a lot faster than Leopard, but for some reason it froze a little bit. :S Sometimes it got a little slow the first day, although no problems again so far! ^_^ Anyway, I should be installing Windows 7 Professional Edition and comparing it to Snow Leopard extremely soon! :) I will be intalling it today or tomorow and posting the video as soon as I edit it! ^_^ Maybe I'll edit it in Movie Maker on the newly installed OS. Hope you enjoy the video. Guide: How To Do A Clean Fresh Full Install Of Apple Snow Leopard OS X 10.6
Apple designed Snow Leopard 10.6 so that you cannot select 'Erase Install' when booting from DVD like in Leopard 10.5. Apple states that you need Leopard 10.5 installed in order to 'Upgrade' or 'Install' Snow Leopard 10.6 - This is not true. This guide shows you how to do a clean install of Snow Leopard 10.6. Extremely hand if you need to install a new hard drive. Please note this was performed off the 'Upgrade' disk - which shouldnt [according to Apple] be able to do a full install! I also outline how to migrate your data to the new install. Let me know what you think. Subscribe for more videos.

The Upgrade from Mac OS X Tiger to Mac OS X Snow Leopard
Often running a newer OS on an older system can result in a significant performance drop that greatly affects its usability. As a result, many people are cautious to upgrade their Macs running Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger" to v10.6 "Snow Leopard". In this video, I compare the performance of several aspects of the user interface and boot times of Tiger and Snow Leopard, giving current Tiger users an idea of how their Mac may perform running Snow Leopard. The computer used is a 17" Late 2006 iMac with the following spec's: - 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - 1 GB RAM (This is the minimum RAM required for Snow Leopard) - 128 MB of VRAM Snow Leopard requires a Macintosh computer with an Intel processor and at least 1 GB of RAM. To comply with the licence agreement for Snow Leopard, Tiger uses must purchase the Mac Box Set, which includes iLife '11 and iWork '09. I hope this video can assist your decision to upgrade. In my opinion, the upgrade from Mac OS X Tiger to Mac OS X Snow Leopard it is definitely worthwhile.

How to Rescue Mac 10.6 Snow Leopard
Welcome to my pants. The full details are written here for your reading pleasure, to see if I can keep my late-2008 MacBook going on OS 10.6 Snow Leopard. You may wonder why I don't just upgrade to the next available Mac operating system 10.7 Lion, or to the next one 10.8 Mountain Lion, or to current one, 10.9 Mavericks. I went to the Apple Store a couple years ago, and by that discussion and my reading of current technical articles, my 6 year old MacBook Hard Drive (not a MacBook Pro) cannot handle the next upgrade to 10.7 Lion. Apple changed the design of the HD after 2008. So, after reading about Apple no longer supporting 10.6 Snow Leopard, I must either buy a new computer, which I prefer to wait one to two more years for budgeting reasons, or learn to live with a computer that no longer receives Apple updates. Several technical articles suggested for security those with OS 10.6 no longer use Preview (to preview your documents before you print them), QuickTime, Safari browser (Google Chrome and Firefox still function with OS 10.6), nor iChat. I only chat on FB and YT anyway, so the deletions I just completed off my old MacBook were: iChat, Safari, Preview. QuickTime I moved to the Trash as a holding place for it. I will take it from the trash as need to render my iMovie films to .mov but even when in the trash it appears iMovie will create a YT-friendly .mov file by choosing Share, Export, and saving it to a documents folder, and NOT use Share, Export Using QuickTime. It doesn't seem logical to me that iMovie is opening QuickTime from the trash to create this .mov file which I also uploaded here to YT! I may be too afraid to trash QuickTime permanently. I added VLC as an open source (free) media player but I have in testing it learned it plays any media file and still works with Snow Leopard, but it does not serve to convert files to other extensions like .mov. Finished iMovie Projects are saved as .rcproject in iMovie, and they do not upload to YouTube directly. Clicking in iMovie, Share to YouTube, does not work. The best way to upload to YT is to open YT, press Upload, and then choose your computer file. I have iMovie 11 (iLife). I still film with an old HD Flip Cam and those files are .mp4 (mpeg) which upload fine to YT. However mine would be unedited. Once you move the film to iMovie to edit it, you end up creating the non-YT-friendly .rcproject file which needs to be converted to .mov or another of the files more upload friendly as stated on YT's help page. You do not need to preview your documents in order to print them, but if you want to, you can save them as .pdf, and open them with Adobe Reader, and in there you see in lower right corner how they would look before finally printing them. iTunes and iPhoto are so far not affected. I already had Google Chrome so I added Mozilla Firefox as an alternate browser, and it also still works with OS 10.6. I have just recently discovered that a MacBook system application (Installer) does NOT work to download one app that I am being prompted to upgrade: Adobe Flash Player (not to be confused with Adobe Reader). How does that impact me? So far one of the websites I have bookmarked will not open with the old version of Adobe Flash Player. I have not yet had any other problems but will let you know in another techy vlog. If Apple continues to create a new OS annually, and cease support of the one that is 3-4 years old, my next computer for budgeting reasons may need to be a Windows based laptop, as I cannot afford Apple's high-end computers every 3-4 years. I welcome any comments or ideas you may have if you are trying to keep using Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard. UPDATE 1-2-15: Special thanks to LoriMar3 for our discussion. I was lucky to have bought the "aluminum" body late-2008 MacBook. Although it could not handle an upgrade to Lion 10.7 a few years ago per Apple, because that OS required 4GB RAM, the newest Yosemite 10.10.1, and perhaps some other prior OS, only requires 2 GB RAM memory. I successfully downloaded OS Yosemite today, and so far so good! Be patient... the download over high speed internet takes up to 3 hours. The information in this vlog will still be relevant to those who purchased a 2008 or older white MacBook. New Subscribers are always welcome! A thumbs up is always appreciated too :D Please leave a comment below! and Share with your friends! Asus 1000HE Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.1
This is a video screen capture of the Asus 1000HE running Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.1. Snow Leopard runs surprisingly well on this little netbook. Here's what's demoed in order: The Intel Atom processor is correctly identified in 'About This Mac' as the Atom N270 processor running at 1.6GHz. Function keys for the volume controls were added thanks to a hotkey program. These work by pressing Ctrl+F12 for volume up, Ctrl+F11 for volume down and Ctrl+F10 to toggle mute. (Note other function keys not demoed are activated by Fn+Key for the brightness up/down and sleep functions.) The software and features of 10.6 run great, such as Safari, QuickTime Player X and Time Machine. Here Time Machine is put through its paces to restore a deleted file from a previous backup. Also installed is Sun VirtualBox running a virtualised copy of Windows XP Home. Windows XP runs very well, VirtualBox can run it in windowed, full screen or seemless mode, additionally copy and paste between Mac OS and Windows is available, as is folder sharing between Host and Virtual OS's. Lastly Photo Booth is shown to be working with the built-in webcam. The hardware features of the Asus 1000HE running Snow Leopard are also working, such as wifi (with the help of Ralink's wifi utility), Bluetooth, sound, sleep and ethernet. Battery charging within Mac OS X works just like a regular Mac, the battery indicator recognises when AC power is plugged in and calculates accurately remaining battery life and charge time.

How to update to newest mac OS High Sierra from older mac pro with Lion X
https://solutionswireless.blogspot.com Quick tutorial on how update to High Sierra Os from later model mac pro 2011-2012 with pre-installed Lion X 10.7.5. Do know that the Lion X OS is not the same as the OS X Mountain Lion. So In order to update the High Sierra OS you need to first get OS X Mountain Lion downloaded onto your Mac to get your mac version from 10.7 to 10.8 first, otherwise it will not let you update directly from 10.7 to the newest software. Where to get OS X Mountain Lion (10.8)? Step 1: You Do need to purchase this and downloaded onto your Mac book pro. (recommended, because this will save you time and getting a legit product) Here's the Link to the OS X Mountain Lion https://www.apple.com/shop/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion Step2: Once you have OS X Mountain Lion(10.8) installed, you then can upgrade to the High Sierra Os for Free. Mac OS X Snow Leopard running on MacBook Pro 17" Late 2007
Yesterday I decided to destroy the Windows 8.1 partition on this computer and replace the OS with Mac OS X Snow Leopard in order to treat it just the same as my old 2006 Core Duo MacBook (man do I miss doing such weird things with that MacBook!!). Even though support ended several years ago I can still browse the internet (via Firefox) and play the latest version of Minecraft (but I don't play the latest version. I have my own 1.7.10 modpack). I will keep Snow Leopard on it, though. I can definitely say, Snow Leopard runs even faster than Windows 7 on this computer. UPDATE February 2019: As of now, it is running Windows 7 again, since late 2016. Even the latest and last ever supported version of OS X on this computer, which is OS X 10.11 El Capitan, has also fallen out of support. and therefore losing compatibility with browsers and whatnot. When Windows 7 does run out of support, I'll most likely be installing Windows 8.1 on it, although I'll most likely have gotten rid of the computer by then.

How to Create a Mac OS X USB Boot Drive on Windows
This tutorial will help you create a bootable USB flash drive for your Mac on a Windows computer. In order for this to work you should have a USB flash drive. The one I used in my tutorial was 16GB in size, but it will work with any flash drive that is 8GB in size or higher. Open command prompt as an administrator and enter the following commands to convert your USB drive from MBR to GPT fomat: diskpart list disk select disk X (where X is the number of your USB flash drive) clean convert GPT create partition primary Transmac can be downloaded from AcuteSystems.com at http://www.acutesystems.com/scrtm.htm The application costs a one off fee of £59, however you can use Transmac without any restrictions for fifteen days. That's more than enough time to do what you need to do. If you search online for "OS X DMG Download" you will find many websites that host the DMG file for your Mac's operating system. It should be around 6GB in size. The website I used was http://macdrug.com/. Downloading directly from their server was super slow so I downloaded the DMG file via the torrent file available instead. Once you have your USB boot drive, you can boot up from the drive by inserting the USB drive into your Mac and then pressing the option (⌥) key as soon as your computer loads. This will allow you to select which drive you boot from. If you see the no/prohibited/forbidden symbol after selecting your USB drive to boot (it's like a circle with a line through it i.e. ø), try and go back into the recovery area by pressing command and R when your Mac is loading and unmounting the drive. There is a good discussion about this issue at http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/when-booting-from-usb-i-get-circle-with-line-through-it.1411034/ Some people had better luck entering into safe mode using command and S - see the discussion at http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/circle-slash-prohibitory-sign-and-spinning-gear-no-boot.683873/ There is a lot of great information about the prohibited symbol at https://bombich.com/kb/ccc4/help-my-clone-wont-boot too. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this so please leave a comment below. As always, if you enjoyed the video, please click like, share, and subscribe :) Thanks guys.
