Marilyn Hellman talks about how you can build red accessories to accent fashionable outfits in your wardrobe. Learn how to use color to add a trendy, contemporary look to your own personal fashion statement.
Hello, I'm Marilyn, last night I got the greatest idea so I ran down here early this morning before the shop open put together this little – little stand of things in red and I decided what we're gonna talk about or what I'm going to tell you about is, how to accessorize with red and how you can use it to really make your wardrobe pop and some of the things that – let’s start with the shoes, one of my favorite things to start with. You could always use a bright color red shoe, and here I've done some different heights to show you how it's a dressy thing with the pants or with a skirt or dress, it’s really great and then we have another styling and of course, it's always gorgeous with pants. Here's this beautiful shoe that you can do with pants, this is a wonderful thing to use for reds to accessorize it. Now, one of the things I want to tell you about red is, reds one of those things, like with the occasional rule? You walk alone up on your red, you walk up to the mirror, you take a look and you take one piece off.
So, that's a good way to look at it, a lot of times designers, so it doesn't have to be totally red, look at in this shoe – the styling, they actually use this – we wouldn't call it an accessory but these is an accent on this particular shoe. This could be really pretty, here I might use a little detail of a little color of red somewhere else but very small and sparingly and you can wear this with black. A lot of times though, they’re – just don't – when you see red, don't think black right away, goes beautifully with beige and browns and other colors that reflect the proper rays of warm and cool colors. The other one too here is, is with bag, is another one, great! Good thing I saw in Milan as I was walking down the street, I saw a woman dressed in black pants, beautiful crispy white blouse, all she had on was this red bag, looked absolutely stunning! So, a lot of times – but watch on the sizes on these things, it can get too big.
This is a nice size; you can also use it in the evening when you go out to dinner, a little smaller size, that's another nice one to use, always like this lacquered one because it has enough room for everything to do it. Then you can now emphasize it when you go out with a little more red. We showed it here always, a shawl in red is always important. It's really pretty and one of the things I wanted to show you, it just doesn't mean you wear it with black. Today, I purposely put on this little – this total black-and-white print identity, a little accessorizing with the red. I didn't do it at the earring, I thought that would be too much, used a little silver to go in with the rest of the configuration here and as you can see, and this is really pretty. Whether I use red shoes here or not, again I'd have to walk up to a mirror and maybe take something off but I wouldn’t back out, I would at least try, that's what I would do.
Another area to that people sometimes forgets is, red and a belt could be really, really great. If I didn't have all these jewelry and I could have this great red belt and with this I wouldn't do anything else, this would be awesome. Bracelets, great thing! If I do a bracelet, though I normally like to have some kind of an earring that goes with it, that has a little red in it, that can be very pretty. Hats, we've a lot of hats here at Marilyn's, it's always nice to use an accent color, really pretty at luncheons and other things like that. Now, you're saying to me, Marilyn, I don't like red. Well, that's okay because all of the things that we talked about can also be used in any bright color, orange or here's one I'm going to show you that I really love because turquoise is a very popular color. Here's that shawl and a really, really bright color and I'm using this turquoise shoe, so this is being used as an accent color to whatever outfit I have with it.
So, use color a lot more than you probably would have because a lot of times, it can take the place of jewelry or other things. I hope you enjoyed this and I think if you want to take a look at more and you want me to tell you more about the colors and how to access your wardrobe, you’re more than welcome to come into Marilyn’s and see me. Thank you.
