2D Animation takes hours to do, right? So if you want to make your own cartoon animation you have to be willing to give up some time, because, even in the digital era where you can rig a character, you still have to access different controls to make a cartoon look alive.
Every course out there teaches you how to rig and do animation, but what I truly wanted was to learn how to save time in my animations, and a rigged character was a huge time saver, but I thought: What if this could be done faster? What if to change the character's posture and facial expression was so simple, that I could accelerate my 2D animation to just a few minutes instead of hours?
MY JOURNEY - CHANGE YOUR CHARACTER POSTURE WITH JUST A CLICK AND DRAG.
This was my dream. In order to make animation a fast process, users would have to be able to change the posture of their characters quick and easy. Imagine having a replica of one of your cartoon characters in real life made of plasticine. If you wanted to change his posture you can easily and quickly do that, just take his arm and move it, right? And his face? Well, just use your fingers and change it in a snap.
So I started my journey and decided that the best way to do it was on After Effects, because of the ability to use expressions - Oh yes. Java Programming. A way to put controllers physically on the character, so if I want to move his hand, I just click and drag the hand, and If I want to move his eyes, click and drag the eyes, and the eyebrows? Click and drag. And if I want to turn his head? Click and drag.
Imagine working all your 2D Animation with your cartoon characters with only clicks and drags? And I mean everything! Rotating his head, turning his head, moving his body, moving his leg, hand, eyebrows, the direction of his eyes. All with clicks and drags to create keyframes. That would be awesome!
Well, because I’m currently on a project that demands to do a lot of animation and in a very short amount of time, I had to work a solution, and yup, you are probably already guessing… I got the solution. Well, sorry to disappoint you. I worked hard and I got nowhere, so, you just spent a couple of minutes of your life reading this to get nothing.
But don’t worry, I’m still working on that solution.
JUST KIDDING! It’s done! I had to study a lot about java programming to understand some basic coding and, to apply it to the expressions on After Effects, the ones I used to Rig a Character that you can animate and even make your own cartoon come to life.
In the course I give a quick Tour on After Effects for those of you new to the software and then I teach you how to rig the character and use the expressions to automate almost everything to speed up your 2D animation workflow.
And not only that, but, because After Effects is actually a very versatile software used primary for motion graphics, you can easily create a 3D scene of your cartoon characters which I also show you how to do. To give you a taste of what the course is about, you can access some free lessons.
Enjoy your own personal time by saving it. Work faster and learn how to make animations the fun way.
