As we walked along the coastline of Sardinia, the smell of fresh bougainvillea permeated the air as though we had entered a secret serene garden. The sun shined down onto the crystal clear cerulean Sea, illuminating the waters and creating a sparkle effect, dancing in unison on the surface. This was not the Italy we knew before. This was an entirely new world to explore. This was Sardinia. Just south of Corsica France, Sardinia’s coast had been beckoning us to visit for years, as though it knew we would fall in love with this Mediterranean island lifetimes before stepping onto it. The northeastern coastline of Sardinia, known as the Costa Smeralda, is notorious as the playground for sailing and the rich & famous. Yachts flood the glamorous town of Porto Cervo in the summer months and create an alternate utopian universe for Europe’s bourgeois to rub shoulders. While the Costa Smeralda may be known as the summer playground for the elite, there is so much more that it offers. Italy: Amalfi Coast Drive from Sorrento to Positano

04:11
The Amalfi Drive (formally Strada Statale 163) is the conventional name of a stretch of road which runs along the stretch of the Amalfi Coast between the southern Italian towns of Sorrento and Amalfi. The road was originally built by the Romans. The drive between Salerno, at the southern base of the peninsula, and Positano follows the coast for about 80 km (50 mi). For the greater part of its route, the road is carved out of the side of the coastal cliffs, giving spectacular views down to the Tyrrhenian Sea and on the other side up to the towering cliffs above. The road passes through the village of Positano, which is built on the side of the hill. Both the village and the whole drive are leading tourist attractions in the area. The Amalfi coast is an UNESCO-listed landscape lined with small towns precariously perched between mountains & the sea. RHS Productions.

Maiori between sea and mountains, Italy 2018 [NOBOARD]

01:40
A travel movie about our great weekend in Maiori, South Italy. An uphill road leads from sea shore to medieval Castle of San Nicola de Thoro Plano (Castello di San Nicola de Thoro-Plano) steeped in history with a magnificent view of Maiori, sea shore and mountains around. This travel video was shot at June 2018 on a single GoPro Hero 6 camera mostly with GoPro Karma Grip attached. As usual in our videos, no words or ads, just silent and impartial review, only beautiful nature of Maiori, Italy in 4k. 1:31 Timelapse 4k raw: https://youtu.be/SKBWAE6f2ys 4k. Tesion : US warns Italy against joining China's in South China Sea

10:26
Tesion : US warns Italy against joining China's in South China Sea The United States has warned Italy against supporting China's global economic effort, called the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), denouncing the infrastructure plan as a “vanity project.” In a thinly veiled rebuke of the initiative, which aims to unite European and Asian markets, a spokesman for the White House’s group of national security advisers said on Saturday that Italy’s participation in the BRI would add “legitimacy” to Beijing’s infrastructure project. “Italy is a major global economy and great investment destination. No need for Italian government to lend legitimacy to China’s infrastructure vanity project,” Source; https://goo.gl/qeVHqn

The Costa D'Amalfi (Italy) Vacation Travel Video Guide

25:30
Travel video about destination Amalfitana in Italy. The Costa D'Amalfi in the south of Italy is both wild and beautiful, framed by the Tyrrhenian Sea and the foothills of the Lattari Mountains as well as historic and picturesque towns.Sorrento marks the beginning of a journey through the "land where the lemon trees blossom" and along one of the most beautiful panoramic roads in the world, the Amalfitana. Sorrento's secrets lie hidden in numerous cloisters, gardens and courtyards and within the footsteps of European history. They all came here, Greeks, Romans, Normans, French and Spanish, to a place that since ancient times has been used for recreation. Until the end of the nineteenth century the Amalfi Coast was mainly accessible from the sea but later a road was built, the Amalfitana. It is around twenty five miles long, with many sharp curves, and often seems to hover above the sea. Amalfi is the beating heart of the coast and .today a world famous resort that is squeezed into the mouth of a valley of mills. In the Middle Ages, along with Pisa, Genoa and Venice, Amalfi was one of Italy’s most powerful maritime republics and its prosperity showed. High above the coast is Ravello that in the ninth century belonged to the League of Cities of the Amalfi Republic and served as a defence against the Normans. It boasted twelve churches plus various convents and palaces in mediaeval Moorish architecture that highlighted a glorious era of luxury and wealth. One of the most beautiful roads in the world, the Amalfitana travels along a remarkable coastline and through character–rich locations that are full of the varied architecture that only the pages of history can endow. -------------- Watch more travel videos ► https://goo.gl/MXPgSs Join us. Tropea is the busiest and most attractive of these seaside towns; with a historic centre perched on cliffs above the sea. Tropea is large enough and interesting enough to serve as a base for a longer holiday, and the local railway line and boat trips allow a certain amount of exploration without the need to drive. Although it is not particularly well-known to English-speaking travellers, Tropea is popular with Italians and with sun-seeking Germans, many of whom drive south in camper vans or head for the area's campsites. Italians mostly holiday in July and August; in May, June and September Tropea is both cheaper and less crowded while the weather should still be warm and sunny. Tropea's principal social activity is a traditional one with a twist. PUGLIA, ITALY: Why you must visit & the BEST PASTICCIOTTO in LECCE

03:55
The Southern Italy region of Puglia has everything you would want in a trip: beaches, incredible food, history, a slower pace of life, and friendly faces! WHERE ELSE DO YOU WANT TO SEE ME GO IN EUROPE?! Leave a comment below, let me know! I visited Lecce, in Salento, with my friends Jeremy, Michelle and Dominico (who live there!). THE PEOPLE of the trip made it truly incredible...but the PLACE was extraordinary, too!! Watch the video for my favorite things in Puglia, including: 1. The beach! We went to Punta Della Suina in Gallipoli 2. Gelato. (Enough said!) 3. Linguine alla vongole -- my favorite dish I had (which was a really hard decision to make). L'Ostrica Ubriaca in Lecce has such delicious seafood! 4. The history! Explore, read, learn...you'll be happy you did. 5. The food! While you're there, you've got to try pasticciotto, have a rustico, drink some Quarta coffee, have orecchiette pasta, eat some taralli (kind of like pretzels, so addicting!). And of course, the seafood, pizza, lasagne, horse meat stewed in red wine, the list goes on... A big thanks to the family behind Caffe L'Incontro in Lecce!! They warmly welcomed me and my camera back into their kitchen to watch how they make their incredible pasticciotto. The king of pastries in Salento! Never miss a QKatie episode! Gallipoli - Italy

Gallipoli is a southern Italian town and comune in the province of Lecce, in Apulia. The town is located by the Ionian Sea, on the west coast of the Salentina Peninsula. The town of Gallipoli is divided into two parts, the modern and the old city. The old town is located on a limestone island, linked to the mainland by a bridge built in the 16th century. Greek Goddess Hera and Arab Influence Southern Italy

01:51
But, you want to know something fascinating, there is some strong evidence, that on that samesummit was located a shrine to the ancient Greek Goddess Hera and that Greek peoples were making pilgrimages up there in her honor, even way back then. And here we are referring to the original greek settlers of this valley, the mythical Enotrians - the name means “cultivators of the vine” The Enotrians were a fierce warrior like people who came here sometime around the year Seven Hundred BC probably from the region of Arcadia in Central Greece. The Goddess Hera had a passionate following in the ancient world and a number of her temples have been found here in southern italy most notably the two stunning ones at Paestum, the greek city on the tyrannian sea near here.. Interestingly the Goddess Hera, not unlike the Virgin Mary, was portrayed as maternal, solemn and majestic. So you can begin to see why indeed, it’s called Sacred Mountain. In fact its name Gelbison derives from an arab word meaning “mountain of the Gods”. These lands have been visited and invaded by many peoples over it long history including Arab tribes along the Tyrrhenian coast around the year 800 and much later, warriors from the Ottoman empire. Arab soldiers were employed as mercenaries by Christian kingdoms fighting each other and hence the Arabic influence.

Increased hatching of sea turtles eggs in southern Italy

03:01
(12 Aug 2016) Loggerhead sea turtles hatched from nests on the beaches of Campania on Friday night. On the sands of Acciaroli, scientists and locals gathered to see the eggs hatch and watch baby loggerhead turtles crawl determinedly towards the sea. Loggerhead turtles, the scientific name for which is Caretta caretta, traditionally breed in the warmer Ionian and South Mediterranean seas, but global warming has heated up the Tyrrhenian Sea, which is off Campania. Nesting loggerhead turtles have been heading to the Cilento coast over the past few years to breed, say researchers of the Naples Anton Dorhn Zoological Station. Marine biologist Fulvio Maffucci has been working with a team of volunteers to protect the nest from humans. They also monitor the number of eggs and newborns, their weight and the shape of the carapace - its shell. On Friday in Acciaroli, 26 eggs hatched under the careful watch of the team, and a growing crowd of interested spectators. Volunteers clutching torches helped guide the newborns towards the water. It is a crucial moment, for hatchlings can be distracted by man-made lights such as street lamps and lured in the wrong direction, away from the sea and towards death. Loggerhead turtles, which measure around 90 cm (35 inches) long when fully grown, are considered an endangered species due to fishing, pollution and coastal development. Sperlonga, Italy is a beautiful beach town in Italy. It's just one hour south of Rome. Amazing beaches, chairs and umbrellas for rent. Snack bars for food, snacks and refreshing beverages. The old town of Sperlonga is charming - reminds me a bit of Greece. The buildings are white stucco, plenty of alleys to wander through and bougainvillea blooming all around. Makes for a perfect day trip from Rome or an extended escape to a classic Italian beach town. http://www.curiouscatexpat.com/gallery-sperlonga-italy/

We passed through the Strait of Messina (Between Italy & Sicily) during the MedSeA cruise 2013. The Strait of Messina is the narrow passage between the eastern tip of Sicily and the southern tip of Calabria in the south of Italy. It connects the Tyrrhenian Sea with the Ionian Sea, within the central Mediterranean. At its narrowest point, it measures 3.1 km (1.9 mi) in width, though near the town of Messina the width is some 5.1 km (3.2 mi) and maximum depth is 250 m (830 ft).
Trieste - Adriatic Sea - Italy

01:58
Trieste About is a city and seaport in northeastern Italy. It is situated towards the end of a narrow strip of land lying between the Adriatic Sea and Italy's border with Slovenia, which lies almost immediately south, east and north of the city. Trieste is located at the head of the Gulf of Trieste and throughout history it has been influenced by its location at the crossroads of Germanic, Latin and Slavic cultures. In 2009, it had a population of about 205,000[1] and it is the capital of the autonomous region Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trieste province. Trieste was one of the oldest parts of the Habsburg Monarchy from 1382 until 1918. In the 19th century, it was the most important port of one of the Great Powers of Europe. As a prosperous seaport in the Mediterranean region, Trieste became the fourth largest city of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (after Vienna, Budapest, and Prague). In the fin-de-siecle period, it emerged as an important hub for literature and music. However, the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Trieste's union to Italy after World War I led to some decline of its "mittleuropean" cultural and commercial importance. Even if it enjoyed an economic revival during the 1930s, after WWII it suffered because of the border changes and, throughout the Cold War, Trieste was a peripheral city of western Europe. Today, the city is in one of the richest regions of Italy, and has been a great center for shipping, through its port (Port of Trieste), Shipbuilding and financial services.SOURCE:WIKIPEDIA

Places to see in ( Tropea - Italy )

Places to see in ( Tropea - Italy ) Tropea is a seaside resort with impressive scenery in the region of Calabria, in the south of Italy. This stretch of coastline on the Tyrrhenian Sea is called the Costa degli Dei, the 'Coast of the Gods', and it is hugely admired by those in the know as one of Italy's finest summer holiday destinations. The coastline curves outwards in a large hilly bulge, boasting dramatic cliffs, sunny beaches, and a string of little resorts and campsites. Tropea is the busiest and most attractive of these seaside towns; with a historic centre perched on cliffs above the sea. Any time of the day or evening you'll see holidaymakers and locals taking a passeggiata down Corso Vittorio Emanuele, strolling along and people-watching, before reaching the the street's sudden end, where a set of metal railings offer a dramatic view over the beach and sea. The next stage in the ritual is to lean out, admire the view, chat a little, then wander back up the road to sit with a drink or to perform another circuit. Tropea has that lovely timeless, faded feel that is a characteristic of sleepy southern Italian seaside towns. There aren't many specific tourist attractions, but the town is a maze of pretty lanes and palazzi - some of which are crumbling away - and little hidden squares where you'll usually find restaurant tables. The heart of town is up on the headland and if you explore the streets you'll find traces of the old town wall and fortifications which defended the landward side. Nowadays the town spreads out further, and after you've wandered among the lanes and enjoyed refreshments in the shade of a cafe parasol, you will want to descend to the sea, both to enjoy the beach and to obtain the best views of Tropea's citadel on its rock. For some insight into Tropea's history, and suggested itineraries for your rambles, you can buy a guidebook from a number of shops on the main street. There is a tourist information office in the central square, Piazza Ercole, and there are a few agencies which book boat trips and excursions and can provide further advice to tourists. The most famous views of Tropea are of the large rock outcrop jutting into the sea opposite the centre of Tropea. This was once an island and the attractive monastery on the summit, Santa Maria dell'Isola, sits in gardens above the sea (closed for restoration at the time of writing). Tropea may be a simple small town dominated by tourism nowadays, but it has enjoyed significant prosperity throughout the centuries, evidenced by the many churches, grand palaces and majestic portals throughout the town centre. Tropea's Norman cathedral, the Duomo, is one of the most interesting buildings in town (though unfortunately closed during our visit). The patron saint of the town is the Madonna of Romania - celebrated as the town's protectress through earthquakes and wars. An icon bearing an image of this venerated Madonna is carried through town in a procession during religious festivals. Tropea has a little museum, the Museo Diocesano, in the Bishop's Palace, the Palazzo Vescovile, by the Duomo. It contains mostly religous art including painted wooden statues and silver reliquaries (open April - October; hours are limited). ( Tropea - Italy ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Tropea .
