Oil painting lesson «Starlight night», learning to paint as Van Gogh

03:37
http://www.artrecept.com/english/art/150 Today we are going to paint a free copy of Vincent Van Gogh’s painting called «Starlight night». This is one of the most famous and recognizable paintings ever created by a man. Van Gogh’s «Starlight night» is a symbol of human`s imaginative power – it is one of the most incredible and amazing landscapes that one can imagine. Since there are always the most interesting and unusual things learnt in our art lessons, we really have to learn to paint at least something similar to Van Gogh’s «Starlight night». During the work on the painting we will try to feature the technique as high as possible in which this picture is written, the dynamics, rhythmical recurrence and the pastosity of the brush strokes. We will try to catch the spirit and the energy of the painting. It seems to me that one night Vincent Van Gogh, armed with the canvas, brushes and paints, left his house and had a completely convincing intention to paint the most incredible landscape with the most incredible stars, moon, light, sky, wind… We will look at Van Gogh`s painting, feast our eyes on it, examine it adequately and start painting our own Starlight night. Welcome to the online painting school http://www.artrecept.com/english ! And I am its author Elena Khirilchuk. The project goal is to create the video tutorial course concerning the oil painting using the traditional art materials and art painting techniques as well as the various unconventional approaches, methods and materials. Thank you for joining our oil painting course! And welcome to our online painting school!

By the way, Truth behind Vincent Van Gogh's Ear | Vincent Van Gogh

07:21
Hi guys, it's a sappy sad story that I'm about to tell. When I read and heard about Van Gogh's story, I thought it was worth sharing. Vincent Van Gogh's art style is definitely strange and hard to appreciate, but the story of his ear and the meaning it entails is both amazing and beautiful. Many people thought Vincent Van Gogh cut off his ear to give to a prostitute, but new archeological investigation showed that it was given to a maid that worked at brothel named Gabrielle (Rachael was apparently a nickname). I personally dislike it when people take a random point about a person and judge everything about them - I believe Vincent Van Gogh is a victim of this type of judgment. Although he is not a regular man, he wasn't a type to harm himself without reason. He was not a lunatic that cut off his ear for a prostitute, he was a man that cut off his ear because he was hyper-empathetic towards the woman he loved. Ah, I'm sort of cringing by this video since it's too sappy and... blaggh! Never again Apparently Vincent Van Gogh was in Doctor Who show where he got to see the art in the museum... That was awesome. Another movie came out about Vincent, which was spectacular as well Dan Plan ♪ ~ ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ Our Discord: https://discord.gg/SCcA8E7 Our Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/planbeta Our Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/DanPlanB/ Our Twitter Page: https://twitter.com/DanPlanB -- Source Starry night: https://twitter.com/vangoghmuseum/status/678963704776495104 Starry Starry Night: https://www.pinterest.com/melodyor/starry-starry-night/ About Bernadette Murphy: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/arts/art-and-architecture/historian-bernadette-murphy-on-digging-into-the-van-gogh-ear-mystery/article30915559/ About Van Gogh's Ear: https://fsgworkinprogress.com/2016/08/searching-for-rachel/ David Wood (who told this story way better than me): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5yjhVX8sic&t

Deep Neural Network Learns Van Gogh's Art | Two Minute Papers #6

01:47
Artificial neural networks were inspired by the human brain and simulate how neurons behave when they are shown a sensory input (e.g., images, sounds, etc). They are known to be excellent tools for image recognition, any many other problems beyond that - they also excel at weather predictions, breast cancer cell mitosis detection, brain image segmentation and toxicity prediction among many others. Deep learning means that we use an artificial neural network with multiple layers, making it even more powerful for more difficult tasks. This time they have been shown to be apt at reproducing the artistic style of many famous painters, such as Vincent Van Gogh and Pablo Picasso among many others. All the user needs to do is provide an input photograph and a target image from which the artistic style will be learned. ______________________ I promised some links, so here they come! Vincent van Gogh: A style of his own

01:30
From 29 September 2012 to 25 April 2013, the Van Gogh Museum presents 'Vincent. The Van Gogh Museum in the Hermitage Amsterdam', focusing on Van Gogh's personal themes. Van Gogh was passionate and unconventional, constantly pursuing new goals. Sometimes he focused on elements of craft, such as technique or style, and sometimes on certain genres, such as portraits or landscapes. He developed his skills through study and experiment and by exploring themes of his own choosing, such as peasant life, portraits, self-portraits, colour, Japanese influences and nature. These themes, which were central to Van Gogh's artistic career, will form the organising principle of the Van Gogh Museum's presentation in the Hermitage Amsterdam. This video series explores Van Gogh's personal themes with curator of paintings Leo Jansen as your guide. Part 2: A style of his own http://www.vangoghmuseum.com

Vincent van Gogh: A collection of 1185 sketches (HD)

01:38:58
Vincent van Gogh: A collection of 1185 sketches (HD) Description: "Vincent van Gogh, one of the most well-known post-impressionist artists, for whom color was the chief symbol of expression, was born in Groot-Zundert, Holland on March 30, 1853. The son of a pastor, brought up in a religious and cultured atmosphere, Vincent was highly emotional, lacked self-confidence and struggled with his identity and with direction. He believed that his true calling was to preach the gospel; however, it took years for him to discover his calling as an artist. Between 1860 and 1880, when he finally decided to become an artist, van Gogh had already experienced two unsuitable and unhappy romances and had worked unsuccessfully as a clerk in a bookstore, an art salesman, and a preacher in the Borinage (a dreary mining district in Belgium) where he was dismissed for overzealousness. He remained in Belgium to study art, determined to give happiness by creating beauty. The works of his early Dutch period are somber-toned, sharply lit, genre paintings of which the most famous is "The Potato Eaters" (1885). In that year van Gogh went to Antwerp where he discovered the works of Rubens and purchased many Japanese prints. In 1886, he went to Paris to join his brother Théo, the manager of Goupil's gallery. In Paris, van Gogh studied with Cormon, inevitably metPissarro, Monet, and Gauguin. Having met the new Impressionist painters, he tried to imitate their techniques; he began to lighten his very dark palette and to paint in the short brushstrokes of the Impressionists’ style. Unable to successfully copy the style, he developed his own more bold and unconventional style. In 1888, Van Gogh decided to go south to Arles where he hoped his friends would join him and help found a school of art. At The Yellow House, van Gogh hoped like-minded artists could create together. Gauguin did join him but with disastrous results. Van Gogh’s nervous temperament made him a difficult companion and night-long discussions combined with painting all day undermined his health. Near the end of 1888, an incident led Gauguin to ultimately leave Arles. Van Gogh pursued him with an open razor, was stopped by Gauguin, but ended up cutting a portion of his own ear lobe off. Van Gogh then began to alternate between fits of madness and lucidity and was sent to the asylum in Saint-Remy for treatment. In May of 1890, after a couple of years at the asylum, he seemed much better and went to live in Auvers-sur-Oise under the watchful eye of Dr. Gachet. Two months later, he died from what is believed to have been a self-inflicted gunshot wound "for the good of all." During his brief career, he did not experience much success, he sold only one painting, lived in poverty, malnourished and overworked. The money he had was supplied by his brother, Theo, and was used primarily for art supplies, coffee and cigarettes. Van Gogh's finest works were produced in less than three years in a technique that grew more and more impassioned in brushstroke, in symbolic and intense color, in surface tension, and in the movement and vibration of form and line. Van Gogh's inimitable fusion of form and content is powerful; dramatic, lyrically rhythmic, imaginative, and emotional, for the artist was completely absorbed in the effort to explain either his struggle against madness or his comprehension of the spiritual essence of man and nature. In spite of his lack of success during his lifetime, van Gogh’s legacy lives on having left a lasting impact on the world of art. Van Gogh is now viewed as one of the most influential artists having helped lay the foundations of modern art." Feel free to subscribe!
