Secrets and easter eggs are always fun to discover in video games but some may be creepy, some may be mysterious, and some may make you look at a game in a whole new prospective. So in this video I'll be talking about 5 creepy secrets in video games.
Number 1 Sonic CD secret message, Sonic CD is my favorite Sonic game from the 16-bit era it's soundtrack is very catchy, it has two awesome animated cutscenes and it was also the first sonic game to introduce us to Metal Sonic and Amy Rose. But it also has some cool and creepy secrets. In the sound test you can enter some number combinations to see some secret photos. But one in particular is very creepy, to get to the sound test in the original Sega CD version you must press Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, A, on the title screen. I'm not sure if this works in the newer versions but if you beat all the special stages in a total of under four minutes in the newer versions you'll unlock the sound test, in the original you must enter the combination 46-12-25 in the newer versions you must enter the combination 12-25 once you do you'll be greeted to a creepy picture of Sonic with a weird looking face and creepy music will be playing. You'll also see this japanese message that translates to, Fun is infinite Sega Enterprises, signed by Majin, which means devil. But it doesn't actually say Majin, this was a mis-translation it actually says Madin which is a nickname of one of the developers.
Number 2 Animal Crossing New leaf Aika village, although this is a fan made creepypasta I couldn't help but add this to the list. Whoever created this town clearly put a lot of time in it, the town tells the story of a little girl, though I'm unsure what the story is about, their are four houses in this town and many strange areas in the town, each telling a different part of the story, the town has a dark and creepy atmosphere, it's impressive the creator was able to pull this off in such a lighthearted game like Animal Crossing, I recommend giving the town a visit if you have the game. The dream code is:
Number 3 Ghost in Super Mario 3D land, and Hell Valley sky trees in Super Mario Galexy 2
Okay so it might be considered cheating putting two easter eggs in one spot on the list but the reason why i did this is because these two easter eggs are believed to be connected in some way. At the end of the level in most ghost houses if you wait by the fence for about 30 seconds you'll see a ghostly figure appear, this easter Egg is very interesting. who is he? Why is he here? Some people believe he is in some way connected to the Hell valley sky trees from Super Mario Galexy 2.
In shiverburn Galexy you can find these ghostly figures in the background of the level, in the games coding they are referred to as Hell valley sky trees. Although I personally believe they are connected to Luigi's Mansion dark moon, as there is a ghost in the game that looks exactly like the hell valley sky trees. Whatever connections they may have with ether Super Mario 3D land or Luigi's Mansion dark moon we may never know the full truth behind them.
Number 4: hanging Luigi in Luigi's Mansion, in Luigi's Mansion for the gamecube you come across a room with a telephone, and when you use it their will be a quick flash of lightning, if you were to quickly take a picture you'd notice something odd about Luigi's shadow, it's being casted on the wall almost as if his shadow hung himself, for the longest time their was debate over weather this was a glitch caused by the camera angle or something intentionally added by the developers. A lot of people believed it to be intentionally added because it only happens in that one spot in the entire game, it wouldn't make much sense for a glitch like that to only happen once. But this is in fact false it happens two other times in the game, as Stated by the youtube channel TheStickyPaddle, he believes the glitch was ether intentionally left in the game to make it more ominous, or they just didn't have enough time to fix it.
Number 5: Splatoon creepy background noise, Splatoon may be a lighthearted game but even the most lighthearted of games can hold the creepiest of secrets, this was first discovered in July of 2015 by the youtuber Siertes, when entering a boss level if you stand around for awhile before or after you fight the boss you'll begin to hear these hellish sounds of people screaming, and what sounds like stuff crashing.
...couldn't fit in the rest of the script.
