Hi. I'm Trudi Tapscott, and one of the most exciting parts of modeling is walking on a runway. And it is an art form. I think the basics of walking is learning where to position your weight, where to position your shoulders. It's very relaxed. You have to keep your body straight, your neck is straight, your shoulders are straight.
You have to remember that you are showing clothes, and you have to also remember specifically who you are walking for. Because, there is kind of different walks. But, the basics are, you want to keep your shoulders back, your hips forward, and your feet straight. Which all sounds really easy in the beginning, but once you really start walking and putting all the moving parts together, it's really difficult.
You have to keep your weight a little bit forward, you don't want to put all the weight on your heel. You want to look like you are gliding. Your face is completely relaxed, like you're not thinking about it and it's second nature, and you're not singing the words to the song, which is also something that happens in the beginning. Balance their stride, balance their weight, and keep the shift of their body and their arms to their sides. If you swing your arms too much, it's a huge distraction. So, you want to keep everything really simple and walk very basically.
It's very simple, it's very balanced, and it's in high heels. And the way you practice this at home, if you want to become confident in learning how to walk as a model, you put a full length mirror at the end of your hall. Hopefully, it's just a flat surface, and you walk back and forth.
When a model first comes to New York, that is all they do, is just keep practicing. You have models come in the agency all the time, and they are critiqued. Different agents go and watch them, how they walk in certain heels, walking in a variety of high heels. Sometimes at shows at the last minute, you don't get the perfect size of shoe, so you have to learn to walk in different sizes, because at the very end of the day, you have to be able to start and finish the runway with whatever you have on, and make it look great.
Knowing that you are walking from your head to your toe, that it's very straight but it's balanced, keeping your arms to your sides, that's what really makes a great walk. And no one knows how to do that without practicing. Walking is one of the key things that you have to practice, that you have to practice all the time.
I tried modeling class for five months and according to my instructors, posture is the most important part in modeling, you won't look good if you slouch even if you can walk really good, second most important is to relax and be comfortable in high heels especially 3-4 inched heels, and the last you need is proper diet and healthy body. I gave up actually trying to do those...
I am 15 and 181 cm. I want to be a VS angel one day,but I have back problems and my hips are 36. I'm not the person who gives up quickly, but I have no support nor experience to become what I want and that worries me.
[Please respond if you know]
Okay so i am a 16 years old girl who want to model. I am 172cm and when I walk, my legs are not straight. Is this a problem for modeling??? (Sorry for my english, I speak french)
I really want to be a model and i need advice.
Im 5'10 and 120 pounds and im only 13. My legs are long and skinny and supposly they say thats good. I dont know how to start modeling though. Where can i start from?
I want to be a model so bad. But my weight and height doesnt fit the modeling standards. I think I'm 5'3 or 5'2 and I'm 13. And the last time i checked my weight (probably a months ago) was 50. I'm afraid that my weight might increase. Im afraid of looking in the scale. Is it still possible? No one actually never told me i should be a model. No one ever compliment me or ask me what i wanna be. No one. I hope I can be a model.. Someday. But the sad thing is i cant even buy some fashionable clothes or heels. I can't really afford them. I dont wanna ask my grandparents for money (i live with them. And they raised me) because they are having their medications. And if i ever buy some fashionable clothes even if its cheap.. They might really question me why i bought some clothes.. My clothes are really old fashioned :( some of it are given by my auntie.. Sometimes I'm so jealous of those other girls who can wear and do whatever they want. Why is it so hard for me? :( it is really dragging me down and losing me a motivation to keep dreaming about being a model. I still wouldnt give up until i want to. Giving up is not an option for me. I hope i really hope I can be a model someday. :))
Heyyy!! Uhm.. huhu I'm 14 and I think I'm about 5'2" or 5'3". I'm depressed- I mean yes, my height may be good for my age, but I really want to be a model :((( I'm used of getting comments for my height-since I'm already taller than my mom and my aunties. But when I think about modelling, I think I'm a bit not qualified for it😭😭 Do you think I would still grow? Or should I start using supplements already?😭 I really want to be like 5'6" or 5'7"😭😭 I badly want to be a model but I don't have the confidence.😭
Jackie Mart and by you saying how am I alive there has been adults! Weighting at 75 pounds with a taller height as me. So next time you address someone please have some knowledge about what your talking about😌 thanks and have a nice day!
Jackie Mart actually my doctor says it's fine. Because I have a fast metabolism🌞 I also eat actually a lot I just eat a balanced meal most of the time and junk food lol. But I am perfectly healthy🌞 but I would like to thank you for you're concern and no I don't have a eating disorder... that's a very strong word to say to someone because my friend had one and is in rehab now. And if you look up most models usually have eating disorders not all! But some do which is sad because everyone is perfect in there own way💗
Saharas Vlogs how the hell are you even alive? 88 pounds with that height you're practically dead. I sincerely hope you gain some weight and if you have an eating disorder PLEASE SEAK HELP!!! At that height even for a model you should weigh over at least 105 pounds.
