Belfast and the Best of Northern Ireland

2821 ratings | 729202 views
We start in bustling Belfast's City Hall and Ulster Museum, then head out to Northern Ireland's favorite resort: Portrush, along the Antrim Coast, where we taste-test Irish whiskey, scramble over some six-sided geology in the Giant's Causeway, drop in on a world-class golf course, and stomp our feet to some traditional music. © 2004 Rick Steves' Europe

On a day tour a few years ago, we didn't go into Dunluce Castle, but rather stopped a little to the east to view it. Looking straight out into the sea we could see a church spire sticking up out of the water, which our guide told us was from a church that had fallen into the sea. So far I haven't been able to find out anything about it.

Phil. Exactly. thats what i said.> "Ulster-scots" in AMERICA were known as "SCOTS-IRISH" to distinguish themselves from the IRISH. So.. SCOTS IRISH are the "ULSTER SCOTS" in A M E R I C A. in ULSTER they are Ulster-Scots! its not difficult.
phil millar (1 month ago)
We're not from America, we're are from Ulster, with a Scottish background from The Plantations (1605 - 1690) - hence Ulster-Scots.
x y z (1 month ago)
scots-irish if you are from america. as theycame from IRELAND not scotland. hence the "scots irish"

We have uploaded many videos from the most remote regions of County Donegal, the places the tourists do not normally get to see. We normally upload 3-4 videos each month as we explore the rugged beauty of this fabulous county and find remote camping spots to spend the night out under the stars...or under the wind, snow, hail, sleet or whatever the weather throws at us. Have a look and see what you think. We would really appreciate if you also decided to subscribe to our channel to show us some support and encourage us to make more videos for your enjoyment.

Caleb Emerson oh wow imagine having such poor knowledge of geography. If he was British then he would be from the island east of Ireland, Britain. Anything on the island of Ireland is Irish. Hence the name northern IRELAND

The kitchen bit of Dunluce is just an old wives tale. :P There's been archeological studies on the castle and they've determined there's no proof of a section of the building having ever fallen into the sea.

I heard today I have lost a true Friend, who was always there for me. By right some would say we should not have been friends, she was from Belfast and Protestant. My Parents were from Southern Ireland and I was brought up as Catholic (now lapsed), it made no difference. We never got involved with the Politics. This all reminds me of my dear Friend. Thank you.

I went to 9 country's in Europe last summer and met some friends from Belfast in Paris - 6 country's later I decided to fly there to meet up with them again. I originally planned to stay for 5 days, ended up staying for 12! The people of Northern Ireland are some of the friendliest and accommodating I've ever met. If your deciding if you should go - do it!! :)

Guillotine in the public square. It's best of three rock paper scissors to see which ones head rolls.
UserName0043 (5 months ago)
Either that or a public stoning for the women and hanging for the men.
Steph Starrett (11 months ago)
Marilyn Garcia depends on the families, and what they believe etc. I was protestant and married a Catholic

Is there a way to refer to Londonderry/Derry without offending one side or the other, neutral as such?
Caleb Emerson (10 months ago)
Just say Londonderry as that’s it’s official legal name
Aristo Telian (1 year ago)
+llokkee A friend and I bicycled across Ireland and met no one but the most pleasant, accomodating, and hospitable people. Even when I badly mispronounced 'Athy' the correction was given with a smile and understanding. We were given directions, helpful suggestions, and friendliness. Ireland and the Irish are to be enjoyed and loved. Thank you.
llokkee (1 year ago)
I wouldn't worry about it mate We just argue amongst ourselves, people here are by and large very friendly and welcoming towards tourists. Just dont enter into a political conversation, but im sure u can trust ur own judgement ;-) As u can see, there'll always be the odd eejit ;-
sbaker190189 (1 year ago)
Barbara Hallinan This was why I put the question up in the first place. There are people who want to visit Ireland, North or South, who don't want to get involved in the politics of whether the 6 county area should be with the other 26 counties or remain with the UK.

I'm from Northern Ireland. My Wife and Kids are English. My Kids are keen to know where I come from( The land of bad words)  so this was a good video to show them countryside and traditions without any one sided opinion, they are young and don't need to know  that crap. Looking forward to going home next year for the first time since 1998!....So it is.Diddly Dee music, don't remember that so much??
