She's right-handed. You can tell by the fact that her non-dominant arm (in this case, the left) is much looser and swinging more freely.

The "standard human walk" should apply the same FOREFOOT-STRIKING technique that you show in your video "Jog: young adult female", just with less power. As an Engineer, I believe that walking like this makes no mechanical sense at all, but is rather a method that prevents our poorly designed shoes from hurting our toes. Only once you take off the shoes do you realize how this is just a way of hammering your heel onto the floor with a locked-out leg.

Be aware this is a stylised walk, not a standard. (Possibly, her standard walk). - She is locking her knee into a straight after the contact, almost till the release at the back. This prevents her knee/leg from taking the weight and bending in profile. However, if you watch the front view her legs take the weight and swiftly move to the outside. This is not natural. - Also, for some reason her left hand/arm is swinging way more than her right.

Mostly the difference in the size of the pelvis and the torsion angle of the femur.

yeah cool, the reason is because it's hard to study when you have reload or rewind every couple sec. if it's short can you loop at least?

This is a great reference but its a very particular type of female walk instead of a casual every-day walk. This is more of a runway model strut where her legs stay straight instead of bending to cushion the weight and she swings her hips far left and right. Most women don't normally walk this way like to the store and stuff =P

...That was exactly my point. Most women DON'T walk in a fashion even similar to that. And yes, it does affect me. In fact, it affects everyone, including me and you. I'd love to discuss this further and try to show you what I mean, but... I'm not gonna get very far if you're not willing to open your mind and listen. I'll just increase your distaste for "idiotic tumblr feminazi," whatever that is. (I don't go on tumblr). I'm guessing they're man-hating and just as equally narrow-minded. I'm betting you're in your teens. You sound very intelligent. If you ever get the chance, anthropology, culture and media studies will be interesting for you. And if you're an animator looking at these videos for references, you NEED to know this shit, as your livelihood and our society's culture is shaped greatly by YOUR work and YOUR art. The definitions of "standard" and "feminine" will always be skewed, some times more than others. It's our job to make sure that's pointed out, especially if it's trapping people into acting and living in ways that they don't actually want.

This is not right, I've researched foot movement enough to know that although this is how 90% of people walk today, this is not the correct way, for example she starts to lean near the end of the video and as she mounts her foot to the ground her back arches an unusual amount that is not good long term. The correct motion would be mounting the ball of the foot first, not the heel.

Anyone animating the way you suggest wouldn't be able to get a job as an animator. While this may be good advice for people trying to reduce impact on their joints, the advice is *really* bad for anyone trying to do good animation work.
Right way.
Until now, i didn't know that there was a rightway to walk. People know a lot of CGI, little of the human being. Sadly.

awesomekids kids I agree with you. When we see a video of a person walking we accept their walk without a problem. However if we see an animated character walking awkwardly we assume that it is a poor animation instead. This is the only thing we have to be aware of.

Thank you for this!!! i know some people dont get it, but this is an animation reference. It helps that there's a grid because i can see where exactly the body moves! I always have a HARD time making a character walk without the body looking static because i can't seen to get all the subtle parts of the movement, such as her pelvis and shoulders, and even the head bobbing with the movement.
She's used to walk with a bag at her shoulder. The bag-wearing arm's movement are dampered while the other one's are over compensated.
As long as the rig aloows it, yes.
This also differs from conventional walk cycle theory with her standing leg being fully extended from contact all the way through passing position. I think it's great

They could but it would be a lot of work for such tiny details. unless ofcourse it's a very heavy person walking :) in that case the jiggle is usually there, and pronounced

sometimes with the standard walk I've seen that the thighmuscles wiggle while walking can they also do that in animation? because I've never seen that before

Any information on the measures? The youtube video has 25 FPS, I'm guessing it's slowed down to 25%. When I watch it sped up, the girl seems quite small, something like 1.54 m (~5' 1"). Is that about right?

I haven't read through all of the comments so I apologize if this is a repeat...did anyone notice that her gate is off on her right side? Arm swing is minimal and she adducts the right hip more than the left causing her to over compensate by pushing the hip out during the reload phase. I can bet she has lower back pain and knee problems on that side :(
