Men criticizing women's fashion in 1940. I'm from the future and men still haven't found anything better to do. The world evolves around what women do.

Hasn't this chappie heard about London street style ???!!! For myself ... I thought all the young ladies looked perfectly charming !!

Perhaps he should spend more time looking for a man to get rid of that PMS for him, rather than bullying the way women dress, which won’t matter to him anyway, since we all know he isn’t looking for kitty.

the first were nice but the last a mix of Turkey, gloves for something fancy and omg that fuc... dress SO HORRIBLE fortunately was in the last with seconds while the first were longer

I think the first girl looked gorgeous.

Weir how it was ok to have a net on the head before Fashion changes so much!
groovypullet (9 months ago)
What the hell? First girl looked fantastic, last one looked like she raided a period film set for that ridiculous hat. Am I missing something?!
W McCrum-Morrison (10 months ago)
That last hat was horrendous.
Greta M. (1 year ago)
Really, dude? The first girl was dressed more casual, because she can't afford high end clothes. The second one is a wealthy fashionista. Give me a break.

My grandmother grew up in the 50s and 60s. She said the outfit, in the beginning, was what most wore in the 1940s. My great grandmother had her own style, but also the fashion of the day. That was it, that first one! The last one my grandma wanted nothing to do with.
musicaltheatergeek79 (4 months ago)
If she grew up in the '50s and '60s, how did she know what the general fashion was in the '40s? At best she would have an inkling, unless she really studied the era's fashion. Even then, it wouldn't be a first-hand account.

That last outfit was a hot mess...

"Oh, hello, Reginald. What are you doing here?" "Just walking around being super critical and judging women by how they look."

First girl looked the best; followed by the girl in tweed. Fashionable girl looked like a fashion victim with that ugly hat! Rest of her outfit was pretty.
Sumida Ryogoku (2 years ago)
the fashionable outfit...what is that THING on her head?

I can understand how they view the contrast of formality as jarring in some respects. Some of it is simply for practicality however
Rosebud R (2 years ago)
The best look was the tweed and the flower veil hat.
TMIDiva (2 years ago)
Keep in mind that England had just survived WW II. Women had very limited access to the basics of hygiene. Putting pressure on them was just rude and impractical to the extreme. The one individual getting the nod from this prickly little fashion expert just had to have been wearing the weirdest 'damsel in distress' head gear.
First gay fashion facist lol

Rememberfox - EXACTLY! lol

i think its a nice reminder that tacky/beautiful is relevant and we all enjoy different things. i didnt care for his bad mouthing the other outfits at all i thought they looked really nice as well
Yetta Ramirez (2 years ago)
Hey that first girl looked really cute I'd totally wear that hat, geez 1940s style was tough.
Flubber Flops (2 years ago)
Why the fuck did every guy talk like this on old videos? Did everyone talk like this back then?
wenchsammas (2 years ago)
Transatlantic. Now we would call it none reigonal. Rather like news readers they will have an accent from the country they are from but not reigon.
Jane Doe (2 years ago)
its sort of like the '' transatlantic '' accent, real ppl rarely if ever spoke like this during the time. its just for the viewers enjoyment. kind of like how movie announcers have a distinct way of speaking
Osa (2 years ago)
everything was so uniform back then. you didnt see many bold outfits i guess

What a snob!
miltsar (3 years ago)
I hope the last one's boyfriend likes the hat "charmingly exaggerated " hat with the wimple
CrimsonPoppy (3 years ago)
Yes,to mr the first lady was way more fashionable than the last one...Ive never been to fond of 40's fashion anyway :)
bcgrote (3 years ago)
It was the end of a long and difficult war.  Ya wore what ya had. And a short sleeve summery dress with long dark gloves?  Nope.
Anne Butzen (3 years ago)
+bcgrote Agreed. They had just come off a long war, food was still being rationed and I believe clothing was as well. You wore what you already had, or what you could get. I can't believe they thought this was amusing, even in 1946.
marie elena (3 years ago)
the first girl looked better than the last one that he said was well dressed....thanks for the clip, love these vintage films.
Ria D. (3 years ago)
Whut? The last one looks like she gonna ride the magic carpet or sumthin. I'd go for the first 3..
HereIAm247 (1 year ago)
Well, she was going to meet her boyfriend...
Patrick3183 (3 years ago)
The one they call best dressed is the one I thought silliest with the medieval style hat and veil
Ellimo (3 years ago)
Clearly I have no 40s fashion sense, because I thought the first outfit looked the best, and the fashionable outfit with the hat looks ridiculous.
cance7984 (1 year ago)
+Ellimo They *ALL* looked glamorous in my opinion; it's highly subjective.
Sam Marie (3 years ago)
I thought the exact same thing. I must have no fashion sense whatsoever lol.
Julie Price (3 years ago)
Love these old films and fashions of the time . Imagine walking down the street in that hat and gloves today .

Cadence 5453 😂😂😂😂 I almost choked because it's true
Cadence 5453 (2 years ago)
I wish those fashions were still in today. Sadly the trends right now look like they came from a snoop dog video.
