This is infact the best video and Series I have seen on the Tuning/management topics of Oracle DB. Glad that I came across the videos. Very precise, clear, easy to understand. Its an "Oracle Capsule" with all the necessary Vitamins and easy to digest!! Thank you so much Sir!

1. When multiple users are inserting concurrently, they may not insert into the same bock, they will get spread into multiple blocks... 2. Even with parallel dml, each parallel session, Mary not insert into the same block and get spread across multiple free blocks... You can watch this video https://youtu.be/xGMaThyqvEs specifically around 4 the minute... But you may watch the full video too , to understand the whole concept

For Sure! My Question- Does concurrency w.r.to INIITRANS affect only UPDATE and DELETE? Or does it affect parallel INSERT? scenario 1: If INITRANS=8 , and if 16 different users/application INSERTING into the same table , and most likely same block, will 8 of them wait? scenario 2: If INITRANS=8 , but if DOP is set as 16 at table level and if ONE session is doing parallel INSERT using the table's default degreee 16 (or even with a PARALLEL 16 HINT) , it creates 16 SIDs correct? ie will it create 16 different sessions or it is treated as single session? if 16, then In this case will 8 of them wait ? If yes, should the INITTRANS, Tables default DOP and Hints used all be the same? Or INITRANS has nothing to do with INSERT?

if we set pctfree=0 ,which means there is no space reserved for updates in a block. so , if we update the row of a block whose pctfree=0 , will the update work ?

Watch the last section of the video https://youtu.be/s042ovOLxGw

If the row needs more space for the update it will migrate to another block
